Really Disappointed Right Now

Mom 95

I just found FilmStruck a month or so ago, at which point I dived right into the awesome library of movies. I was so excited about having found a source for movies that really intrigued me.
Then, just a few nights ago, I settle in to watch another great movie and I suddenly get repeated messages stating No Media Casting. Since then, I’ve updated/reinstalled/tested/unplugged just about everything you could think of that may have played a role in this issue. Nothing fixed it. I then got with my internet service provider and he was nice enough to go through everything he could think of on his end... to no avail. After a couple emails back n forth with FilmStruck help, I started a help chat. The person helping me was very nice, and went through various questions/steps with me... only to learn that the TV I cast to is not a fully supported device. And, I checked and found out there was a FilmStruck app update prior to my issue starting. So, now I can no longer cast to my TV. Instead, I can try using my laptop and then connect directly via HDMI to TV and see if that works (which is really inconvenient for someone who’s not tech savvy). Or, get a new TV(???).

Really disappointing. Great content and nice help line person. But, still disappointing, especially considering I had a great experience for over a month.

D.S.B. to Erin

This Film is remarkable, especially given it was made in 1937. The sophistication of both the complex characters, the quality of the Cast ,the photography the dichotomy between the good countryside and the evil City. The multitude of layers of dichotomy and truly complex characters ; Kirk Douglas is fantastic in his role of the sophisticated outlaw, Robert Mitchum is equally strong as the lead character both are flawed but not in the obvious cliche way that most characters from the 30’s ,40’s ,50’s forget the dating through today we rarely find complex male characters and a truly evil women and then her saintly foil. This Film grows on me each time I have seen it. The mute deaf boy’s role is so interesting and the ending constructed around his “ word” speaks volumes. The mute boy and the chatty Hash waitress we meet early on in the picture is another beautiful contrast in characters that make each stronger. The cinematography is as good as are the actors ,the characters they play and allows the viewer to be comfortably led into this storyline and these characters.

One of the best of the era or any era. A must watch and a strong buy for those who want a movie library.

Encouragement and advice

The content is appreciated and welcome but the method is still slightly lacking. Your competition has plenty more conveniences. I am not always able to resume watching from where I left off. Taking it one step further titles that I have started and not finished could appear as a reminder to continue where I left off before. Being available as a feature on gaming devices so to be accessible through tv screens and not just tablets and smartphones would be a huge relief and a welcomed encouragement to indulge in your provisions. I love Split Screen as a series and can easily find it while it is a category under the criterion collection; however it does not appear when I type “split screen” into search. This alone tells me that your search could use an upgrade. Being able to search for movies by actors, language, director and year would be nifty, but that is the least of my suggestions. I sincerely thank you for your time if you have made it this far. Happy new year!
Live long and prosper, or whatever other cliche you wish I had added...
