What's New in Version 3.8.2
Corrected an issue where new purchases wouldn’t show inside of Smart Lists or My Books.
Fixed an annoying bug that caused the app to crash.
New in 3.8:
* Many of your Kindle comics, graphic novels and manga purchases are now readable on comiXology! Just sign in or merge with your Amazon Account.
* 3D Touch support for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Quick shortcuts on the Home Screen icon into your Smart Lists, My Books, and Search.
* Fixed an annoying bug where refreshing the Recently Purchased List wouldn't correctly show you new books.
* A few other improvements here and there.
Great Comic App
I'm mostly here because of the large number of low ratings due to the unavailability of in-app purchases for this app. This is because of Apple and their policies, not some choice by the app developer/Amazon. (Don't you think they'd make it as easy as possible to get your money if they could?) This app was great for reading single-issue releases as well as the graphic novels that were imported from my Kindle library (a great feature). I do wish that my manga would have been imported too but they were not.
In all, an app that deserves far more than two stars. It was the low rating that kept me from purchasing the app initially, and I'm disappointed I didn't try it myself. Definite recommend this app.
Almost completely unusable.
I don't know if it's the servers or the app, but since the major redesign with the smart lists, etc, I have been unable to reliably download comics with this app. They will download a couple megabytes and hang. The best way to download a comic is to start reading it, because it will try to download the next page while you are reading one. Of course, it will hang, but when you go to turn the page, you can simply wait a minute or so and it will finally time out and try again! At that point there is about a 70% chance that it will complete the next page instead of timing out again. This is great at making your comics feel worth the money because each issue takes about 15 to 30 minutes of overhead, waiting for it to load time.
Still a disappointment
With the ability to buy comics still gone from the app, It remains a disappointment. The new organization features are nice and have been sorely needed for years. But they just serve to highlight even further how what was such a great comics experience has been ruined.
Don't listen to the people trying to make excuses and blame someone else for the removal of the store. CMX owes a lot of its success to the App Store and its customers and were fine selling in app for years and Apple's policies were unchanged. Now suddenly it's a problem? Sure. It was a horrible, anti consumer move that dumped all over customers that have been giving CMX money for years. That's just simple fact.
