What's New in Version 2.602.3
• Added single player skirmish modes "Annihilation" and "Control Point"!
• Up to 4v4 skirmishes with computer AI are now available on 52 maps!
Truely Great Title!
Skirmish Mode is the greastest addition to Company of Heroes, and with the 9.99 price tag, why wouldn't any WWII/RTS fan want to wait. I'm not a Starcraft 2 fan, but this game is probably the most realistic and indepth strategy game that incorporates real tactics and weaponary used by each force. Any history buff that has in depth knowledge of battles and real life tactics used during WWII with either American, Wehrmacht, or British will feel quite at home. However, one must realise this game is not intended to replicate moments from history, so playing against AI or online play may not be the exact cup of tea your looking for.
Visuals and Sounds- Stunning detailed down to each individual soldier, weapon, and vehicle in the game. Being able to rotate the camera and zoom in and out to seem as if your standing on the dirt of Normandy is exceptional. Everything here is very memorable, and each shot, explosion and piece of shrapnel leaves a mark in your mind and on the battlefield. Every bit of combat in this game feels like a true battle for position on the map. I grew up playing Command and Conquor games, but Company of Heroes by far beats all those previous editions. The indepth detail to each class reminds me so much why I was a huge fan of WWII games. Everything nowadays is all about future weapons and kill count. This is just good wholesome tactics and strategy. Five out of five in my book.
Beware! Poor Performance on OS X Yosemite!
It goes without saying that CoH is probably one of the best RTS ever made. It can easily compete with Star Craft or War Craft for popularity and pure entertainment. Sadly though, the MAC version comes with flaws when running on OS X Yosemite. To the point of unplayable due to lagging and overall poor performance… This current version of the game tries to run “Event Cues” that are not instructed by the player. This causing the game’s Networking Infrastructure to search for an action/connection on your machine. As a result of this, the game is stressing to search for something that doesn’t exist and causes great lag and very poor performance. Obviously this game was designed for the PC first and foremost but I did give it hope on the MAC…
Searching the Internet high n Low for answers, fixes, and/or updates, none were found to give hope. Mostly what was found was your basic “deal with it” information… I can only hope that those involved with this MAC version of this fantastic game know that we are still waiting for updates/fixes/corrections!
Company of heroes
I read the reviews for this game and decided that I must have it. I started downloading it and noticed that the time to download was about an hour and a half so I left the computer and attended to other things. A little over an hour later, I returned and was glad to see only about 15 minutes left, so I sat and waited.
When it reached a point where time left was a minute or two, It stopped downloading and an error message stating "incomplete download". I paid around $20 for this game and I was not about to throw more money away so I decided to write to Apple. A little while later I was back to the App store and noticed in the purchased section, the word installed was over the icon of the game. Usually when apps are downloaded they appear in the dock but not this time, so I did a search of my Mac and found the game in the applications folder. I double clicked on it and waited, my screen turned white and that was it, it froze. I shut the power off and on and rebooted and tried again, same problem. After writing to the App store, they did credit my account. I do like action games but not if they do not work especially when they are around $20 a pop.
