Pic-a-Pix are exciting logic puzzles that form whimsical pixel-art pictures when solved. Challenging, deductive and artistic, this original Japanese invention offers the ultimate mix of logic, art and fun while providing solvers with many hours of mentally stimulating entertainment.
Each puzzle consists of a blank grid with clues on the left of every row and on the top of every column. The object is to reveal a hidden picture by painting blocks in each row and column so their length and sequence corresponds to the clues.
The game enables zooming the entire puzzle, or just the grid area while keeping the clue-panes locked. Other features include a unique fingertip cursor for playing large puzzles with ease and precision, and a show/hide/lock rulers option helping focus on one row and column at a time.

Ratings and Reviews
I’ve been doing this kind of puzzle for years. These are some of the best. This app includes genuinely challenging puzzles. You don’t have to spend money to try some harder puzzles. And after you get through them all, there’s also a free weekly released puzzle. I liked it so much, i did buy a couple of puzzle sets. I really enjoy this developers puzzles and I want to support him or her. (If you haven’t seen the other puzzles, you should really check them out... personal opinion, they’re all good.)
I like the interface... the way you choose color or lack of color is intuitive, and the ability to lock the row and column selector is a great feature I don’t remember seeing anywhere else. It’s epically usefully for the large puzzles.
I highly recommend this to experienced puzzle players.
Beginners, there are a few easy games and a set of instructions, but it puzzles get harder fast. I’d say try it. If you find the puzzles too difficult, check out any of the dozen or more competitive apps that have a full set if easy puzzles to warm you up, and then come back and try these again.
update killed this five star app dead
UPDATE: I just updated (April 19, 2019). I thought it would be great. I would be able to zoom in on my iPad, which would enable me to play those big challenge puzzles. Unfortunately, although they now have one additional cursor option, they removed the ability to have the cursors locked in a way that allows you to move all over the board from column and row to diagonal columns and rows. Moving at will is gone. Of course, you can unlock and move all over but then the clues on adjacent columns and rows are all lit the same. IN SUMMARY: Functionality is now so harshly reduced, that despite my many paid purchases, and unfinished puzzles, I'll have to drop this game that I've been playing daily for years. It saddens me that I can't go back to a version that worked for me. Or better yet, that they couldn't keep the previous way of "locking" alive, while allowing zoom (perhaps with a double tap).
OLD REVIEW: I love doing these puzzles. They are fun, yet force you to think, and be careful - great idea! And the implementation and navigation are surprisingly workable. I wouldn't have thought it possible to create an effective way to do these puzzles without paper and pencil, but they've done it. Love 'em!!!
Developer Response ,
The new update still allows you to move the rulers while in the locked mode. The difference is that in the new version you can do this by dragging only one finger over the ruler. You can also move both rulers diagonally by dragging with one finger over the rulers intersection point. In case you still have problems please send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fantastic game, I'm addicted!
FYI you get 42 puzzles free and one new free puzzle a week. Other packs cost like 2-3 dollars and come with like 20 puzzles. But they're so fun. And it actually has good pictures. I can't find other similar apps that make as good of pics or are as fun to complete. Also I love that there are themed packs—I bought a romantic theme and it had all these cutesy pictures of love and it was adorable! I would totally recommend this game if you like logic puzzles.
Edit: I do have one complaint about this game. I play it on a phone and primarily use my thumb, but the color choices are on the top of the screen, so they aren't comfortable to reach. The bottom of the screen is completely empty, and it seems like it would be a good idea to put the color choices down there where they would be easy and comfortable to reach. It's a little thing but something that's begun to irritate me after playing for a long time. I would love to see this changed in a future update :)
