Contradiction is a fully interactive crime drama. Everything you see is live-action video, with real actors in atmospheric locations. You decide where to go, where to investigate, who to speak to and what to ask. As the story unfolds you'll meet new people, witness new events and discover new places.
You investigate with Inspector Jenks, who has been assigned to the case of a student found murdered in an idyllic English country village.
You meet several characters during the game, most of whom you can visit as often as you like. You can ask these characters about any item of evidence or information that you've collected along the way.
The aim (and name) of the game is to spot contradictions in what they've said. By consulting your notes and pairing together two contradictory replies, Jenks will interrogate the character and they will be forced to reveal new information, allowing you to progress further through the game.
Reveal all the contradictions to complete the game! Playing with headphones a must for a complete experience.
Contradiction is also available in HD and with added features on Steam for PC and Mac.
What's New in Version 6
The game now has subtitles! Also there's been a major bug fix to the clues system.
Can't wait for a sequel
I don't usually write reviews, but this was so deliciously wonderful that I couldn't put it down. Well-acted and well-written, this detective who-done-it had me racing home from work each day to find out more clues and contradictions. I sincerely hope the company produces a sequel because for the bargain price for which this app is offered, I'd snap it up in a heartbeat. The only quibblings I had were that a few contradictions that came about during the massive information you're given weren't identified as such. I also would have liked having more clues to find and being able to cross-reference other people's answers with the one you're interviewing so they could respond to other people's answers. Still, a fantastic game overall.
Debonair Dulcet Tones of Paul Darrow
Contradiction 2 NOW! So very pleased that FMV games are making a comeback. If you like tongue-in-cheek Brit humour, interactive novels, and whodunits, this game will be a treat. Try also Her Story.
This game now has subtitles which helps me remember dialogue, but others may prefer to repeat the scenes & avoid the distraction. More latitude in matching clues would be helpful, but even so, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Acting was spot on, and I could listen to Paul Darrow speak for hours, even if he is spouting evil stuff as he did in this game, lol. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Look, setting us up for a sequel is not an excuse for subjugating the entire experience. There's no chance for a sequel. Great job up until the end. A character does a 180 from controlled stoic to confessional trope? Good luck keeping us engaged while you dig out of that hole. This is a game not daytime melodrama. In order to continue to with this I have to accept that I've been "duped"; not an auspicious beginning to a series... I bet you all have a lot of the sequel in the can, but I won't see it 😕
