Corel Painter Lite
Clearly worth $70. It has a fantastic brush engine, with no lag contrary to other reviewers. IMO amazing brush engine and better program than photoshop elemsts or artrage. I really dislike sketchbook pro for painting etc. (It's also better than fire alpaca too btw!) If your computer is too slow for painter, no way can you use photoshop's brush engine either.
I also own artrage and this feels more natural. BIG THING I'D LIKE TO SEE ADDED to painter lite is layer locking through an app update. It's a feature in every painting program I've ever used, and I use it constantly to prevent from stupid mistakes. PLEASE ADD LAYER LOCKING. Other than that I do reccomend. Easier to learn than full version. Compare with artrage/ps elements. If you own photoshop and like it, you might not need corel painter, as they're similar in many ways.
Only four stars cause I really need to spend more time with painter and put it through it's paces. I suspect I'll be using this program exclusively, but maybe with artrage sometimes.
corel Painter lite
It works but has some bad lag problems, help pages don’t separate ver. Lite from 12 so you spend time trying what they say only to find lite dosn’t support that feature. It also crashes if you try to convert from Painter Riff to JPG. Corel support for the apple store version is bad!! Mine did not come with a service code or SN. Corel said it should have come from Apple Apple said that up to Corel, Customer service at Corel was rude. Asked to speak to supervisor and was put on hold for over 10 miin. and I hung up. Its hard to get support with the service code or SN. Apple service was great, but couldn’t solve the problem.
I don't know if I'll be using this instead of Painter 10, which I own, and instead of Artrage and Sketchbook Pro, but I think this is a good tool to have in the toolbox for $10. It does work, which is a tribute to the App store. I tried to buy the upgrade of Painter 12 from Corel, but I couldn't get it to work at all, or get any effective support from Corel to get it to install. This may be the future of Painter, right here.
