What's New in Version 1.1
Thanks to everyone that has provided feedback and feature requests for Cost2Drive for iOS -- We are working on compiling those comments and bug reports and will be working them into future updates, so keep your eyes peeled to our blog and follow @Cost2Drive on Twitter for more.
* Fixed an issue that made addresses appear less precise than those used for calculations.
* Fixed an issue that would make some vehicles appear with a 0MPG fuel efficiency.
* Fixed an issue that would cause some vehicles to display a fuel-efficiency that was different from EPA.gov vehicle fuel-efficiency data.
* Fixed an issue that would cause some custom vehicles to appear with a 0MPG fuel efficiency.
* Fixed an issue that caused some calculations to return a $0 trip cost. If you continue to encounter this issue, please let us know by touching the info button in app, or by emailing 'firstname.lastname@example.org'
* iOS5 users that have setup Twitter on their devices can now Tweet about using Cost2Drive.
* We've received great feedback about the 'Get Trip Details' button in the app and how annoying it is to switch away from Cost2Drive to compare one set of trip details to another. While we are working towards pulling the information from the website into a fully native experience and doing away with Safari completely, we have made a change that allows you to see the detailed trip results without having to exit Cost2Drive. The In-App browser is temporary replacement for getting kicked out to Safari while we continue to migrate data into the app.
Again, thanks for all the great feedback you've been providing!
Fundamental features broken
Cannot specify which engine in an Audi a6 which will make quite the difference in mileage. Then, when viewing details of the trip in the embedded browser it completely changed my vehicle. Year, make and model was something I had never selected. Went from my '06 Audi to an '07 Ford Taurus. Where did that come from?! The browser also appears to cut off part of the left side of the page making icons only half visible. Also in the same area, when you click to edit the trip (like to re-select my vehicle since it wasn't saved from the app) the details of the trip are not saved from the trip and you must re-enter the destination. Lame!
Haven't even gotten to whether prices and mileage is accurate.
Will not be using this. Uninstalled.
I am not sure about all of the negative reviews, I use this app everytime I am about to travel longer than an hour and am planning my trip budget!
I have both my vehicle and my girlfriends vehicle on the app and it works great. Good to see which vehicle would be cheaper to take on certain trips.
I emailed support to see how they come up with their numbers and got a response very quickly.
They license their gas price information from a company called OPIS (Oil Price Information Service) who gets it from credit card transaction from over 100,000 stations and retail outlets across the US.
This app looks at the gas prices at the starting point of your trip and along your route and then pulls actual prices from gas stations near where you're likely to fuel up based on the range of your vehicle.
Hope this helps, again awesome app and highly recommend!
It does work...
This app does work. It's a little temperamental, for whatever reason, but I have faith the developers will correct the accuracy and make this app what it has the potential to be: invaluable. I had to start over and retry my route a couple times, but it worked, and for multiple destinations. I'm willing to give this app and the developer a shot. The only thing, besides reliability, to be improved, is the ability to change some variables, like mpg. I wish my car got 25 mpg :\
