Cotton Notes is a simple, elegant, clean way to store all your notes, to-dos, pictures, and more! Cotton arranges your notes in an outline/hierarchical format, allowing you to drill down into your notes for more focus, or back up the hierarchy for a broad view of a project or context. Cotton integrates with Dropbox to sync notes across all your devices, and with Evernote to attach an Evernote note anywhere in Cotton. Cotton also lets you share notes with your friends, so you can work on them together, and publish notes for the world to see.
COLLABORATE & PUBLISH
You can collaborate on notes with anyone else who has Cotton installed. You can also publish a read-only copy of any of your notes and share them via email, Facebook or Twitter
You can keep notes in sync across all your devices if you have a Dropbox account.
RICH TEXT SUPPORT VIA MARKDOWN
You can create bold and italic text, rich-text links, code blocks, and more all through the use of Markdown (iOS6 only)
CALENDAR & REMINDERS
Assign any note with a due date, priority or status. Sync notes with due dates your iPhone or iPad's native calendar. You can even set a reminder to go along with it.
Attach almost anything to a note: pictures, a quick sketch, a geo-location, a PDF or Office document, or even an EVERNOTE note.
TAG & SEARCH
Tag any note with as many tags as you want. Full text instant search across all your notes lets you quickly find what you're looking for.
EXPORT & IMPORT NOTES
Export some or all of your notes to Dropbox (as .txt or .opml), Evernote, or email them to yourself (or anyone else you want to). Import notes via OPML (open an OPML file with Cotton from email, Dropbox, Evernote, etc. and the notes will automatically import)

What's New in Version 3.2.1
- Changing how pictures are saved to support Cotton Notes for Chrome
- Added support for the Fleksy keyboard!
- Lots of search enhancements (because who doesn't love search?)
--- Wildcards are now supported in search. An * before and/or after a word allows you to search for any note that has words that begin or end with the phrase. (e.g. class* matches classmate, *mate also matches classmate, as does *lassmat*)
--- You can now OR terms by using the | operator (e.g. turkey |tag:thanksgiving return all notes with the word turkey or the tag thanksgiving)
--- You can now "complete" and "uncomplete" items in search, just swipe to the left!
--- Pictures and updated date now show up in search and favorites
--- Large search results now render much faster. Don't believe it?? Try searching for * and see all of your notes instantly appear.
--- Speaking of search a new operator is available: orderby. orderby can be used to sort results, e.g. orderby:updated, created, due, atoz, or ztoa
- A link to the note is now embedded in the calendar entry if you have calendar sync turned on.
- Improved support for external keyboards
- Fixed several bugs with syncing
- Fixed several memory related crashes
- Updated UI
I am amazed!!!
Device info: iPhone 5, AT&T, iOS 7.1, latest app version to date (4-2-14);
I am absolutely and thoroughly impressed with Cotton Notes! I had downloaded it quite some time ago, and with some problems I had with my phone crashing and having to restore it to my iCloud back-up quite often, somehow, Cotton Notes never made it back onto my device, and I just ran across if and am positively amazed at all the new features!!!! I hadn't used it before because it just didn't have a lot of features I found useful, but now it has way more than I could ever have thought of to even ask for! I just may have found my new go to calendar, notes, and to do app!!!
Not Disappointing *updated*
I am updating my review from one star to five. The more I use Cotton Notes, the more I realize it doesn't exactly what I was looking for, and even more.
Previously I was shocked when I swiped a note to the left and it disappeared without a warning. I assumed it was deleted, but I misunderstood that it was simply marked as complete. Toggling the "view completed notes" option allowed me to "un-complete" it.
I think that the user interface could be more intuitive and some actions could be easier, but there is a simplicity that I really like under the surface.
I'll leave my initial review below (apologies):
Swipe left to delete: where is the confirmation? There is one for deleting an empty note after initial creation. I can delete a root node with all my data with one accidental swipe and be annoyed repetitively if I delete nothingness.
If I hold and move a node, I can't put it as a child of another node.
Quick add is 2 clicks instead of one.
I have lots more, but this application is trying to be flashy and is forgetting its core purpose.
Better than ever
I had this app and never gave it a proper trial. Now that I have finally done so I am totally impressed. It is my go to notes app. I'm getting more organized and am keeping better track of my projects and am learning how to get this program to work with me. It can really do some amazing things.
