Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
The Couch to 5K coach you select talks to you during your workouts. To save your battery, Couch to 5K sends audio notifications when your screen is locked or another app is in use.
To be sure you hear the coach during your workout, please do the following:
• Turn on Notifications permissions
• Turn on the hardware ring/silent switch (no red showing)
• Turn your ringer volume up
• Turn off Do Not Disturb (swipe up for Control Panel and the moon button should not be white)
• Within the app, in Settings > Workout Options, be sure the Trainer Volume is up
Without granting notification permissions, during a workout you can click the lock icon at the top left to keep the app active and still hear the coach.

I have never been a runner and never wanted to be. However, my gym routine was boring me, so I thought I would try this. I absolutely loved it. The workouts are always different so I never have a chance to get bored. It's really great for beginners. I never thought I'd be able to jog 30 minutes nonstop, but now I can and am so proud of myself. I purchased the 5k to 10k app so hopefully that one is just as good.
-I will say there were about 3 workout days where the cues didn't work, but I just kept an eye on the timer on my treadmill and I was fine. -Also, I saw complaints about it not tracking your distance on the treadmill. I'm not sure why that's an issue because you get to log/edit your distance when the workout is done and treadmills typically tell you your distance. So that wasn't a big deal at all for me.

Love the app. It's gotten me on a schedule and I really feel optimistic that I will be able to at least jog the whole 5k. Not going for any records.
Another thing I like is the pace at which it increases the time and difficulty. I truly am the girl on the couch. I work out maybe once or twice a week and I HATE running, and every time there is a slight increase I think "well, okay. If you say so." And I do it!
I wish I could privately share my workouts with my running buddy, with whom I only actually work out once a week. It would keep us both more honest. (I don't want to shout out on FB every time I work out, you know?). Hoping the update will help!
Just what I needed!
I love this app because it offers the training voice option - I feel like I have my own personal coach in my ear! Also, I really enjoy the interval walk/run program. It's just what I needed to transition from a sedentary state to ease into running. I used to run track in high school - Lord knows I wish I had the agility (and size) I used to have - but this program inspires me that I could have a potential to return to the runner I used to be - but better!! :)
