Album art is making a comeback from the days when buying an album was about more than just the music inside. Cover Match pays tribute to the artwork of musicians and the fans who love it with an exciting new game that will test your skills and keep you coming back for more. Cover Match was featured under New and Noteworthy in December 2009, and rose to the #4 game in Music.
Graphically mastered and engineered, this is no ordinary match game. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the crisp OpenGL graphics and special effects that accompany each level, and intrigued by the beauty and rich detail of your album art. Using a classic arcade format, Cover Match starts off slow with just a few album covers to match, then heats up with unlimited levels of randomly sorted cover art. Cover Match literally offers “zillions” of game possibilities. No two games will ever be alike.
Players can choose from two modes, “fun” and “scored”. Fun mode lets you play at your leisure with no limits, no timers, and no pressure. Scored mode creates competition and tests your matching skills using a timer and tap counter. Points are awarded for matches, and a bonus is given for any time or taps leftover at the end of each level.
Other features of Cover Match include portrait and landscape play options (just rotate your device during game play) and an extensive help section. The built-in soundtrack will keep you tapping, but Cover Match also lets iPod music play through so you can listen to your favorite tunes. If you need to interrupt a game for a phone call or meeting, Cover Match will automatically save your current progress and score for restart later on. Finally, players can compete for high scores to win a place on the online Cover Match Top 25 list.
The more album art you have, the better Cover Match will be, but the game includes built-in album art to augment music collections with less than 24 albums.
Hunter Research and Technology is proud to present this great game. If you are a music fan that appreciates album art or a gamer looking to discover a whole new side of your music, give Cover Match a try.
What's New in Version 1.2
Added support for iOS 4.0 multitasking; enabled iTunes Shop within app; fixed bug causing album art to display wrong on iPhone 4; new high resolution icon artwork for iPhone 4.
Finally Resolved Album Art Display Issue
I have held off on writing a review because even though I enjoy this app, the issue with the generic art display was just too frustrating. I hoped they would resolve this and it appears they have! I love the use of the album covers and enjoy using this app when I need a brain teaser. Thank you for the update.
Having to keep matching 2 pairs is not what I call fun
I loved the idea of taking graphics from my album covers. The actual matching game is not fun. I wanted to like it. If it would let you fill the entire grid to begin with it would be a proper game. But it keeps cycling through levels and the first level is two pairs. It takes forever to get up to a decent number of them. I'm sorry, it's excruciatingly boring. That's just one way this game tries too hard. It also adds a constantly pulsing glow to the squares. Not attractive, in my opinion. Sorry, but it's going in the trash.
No more love...
Once my favorite app; now the thrill is gone. It will not load and though I have an extensive music library on my iPad and iPhone, blank squares appear. What happened?
