Unreliable, Have Keys or Remote Handy
I purchased my new garage door openers two years ago with Assurelink. The openers and all related hardware and remotes work reliably. Assurelink is the sole exception. It works maybe half the time. The first time I noticed a problem was when I was stuck outside my driveway with no way to get into my house. After 40 mins of constantly trying, I finally, managed to get a door open. I called the support number provided and the technician sounded ignorant of the problem. He suggested I recheck my hardware and installation. I told him I had already done that and having a two door garage I had a redundant network receiver. Both of which I setup and configured. Eventually after a week or so it seemed I had reliable operation. The next time I had an issue was when I was allowing my contractor in by opening my garage remotely from my office 30 miles away. I was able to open a close the first two days but on the third, it decided to quit after my contractor was done and I couldn't close my garage door. Fortunately the contractor said he would hit the close button in the garage and make a run for the door. Lately with the latest iOS upgrade I haven't been able to link with the server and can't operate my doors. The problem I suspect is the corporate server that Sears poorly maintains. This is a great device when I works. But do not rely solely upon it. You'll end up in Ship Creek without a Paddle.
Push Notifications Working Again!
(Most recent update at the bottom.) Push Notifications stopped working in early July 2014, but the rest of the app is working. No one at Craftsman (Sears) is aware of any issue. After calling Assurelink support 4 times, they finally connected me to Chamberlain who makes the Craftsman Assurelink product. After the Chamberlain technician consulted several people, they said they think it is a known issue and would have the next level of support contact me. Two business days later the technician called back, took contol of my account and tried numerous things over a 40-minute period. I was impressed the technician had a test iPhone and was using it as part of the testing. Although the support was great, the problem persisted. The technician escalated the case to the the quality department (next level of the problem resolution chain apparently) and I was supposed to get a callback from them in 3-5 days.
Today I received an email from Chamberlain technical support advising me the push notification issue has been fixed. When I got home I received the push notification within seconds of opening the door. I appreciate the fact the technical support staff kept me updated.
Push Notifications No Longer Work
As several others have stated the IOS push notifications no longer work as of June 2014 (roughly). You can use the app otherwise and email notifications work fine. If you run a test push notification from the website it still doesn’t go through so there is nothing wrong on my end. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app, removed my opener from my account – nothing works. Sears 800-4-MY-HOME number isn’t any help at all. I am fairly sure Sears doesn’t run the IOS service and has no involvement in the app. It appears to be rebranded from Chamberlain. I finally got through to Chamberlain who has an identical device and app (called MyQ) and I suspect they also run the website & notification service. They admitted to a known problem and my ticket was escalated to level 2 almost 2 weeks ago. I have tried to get updated twice to no avail. I also have a friend with the same opener as me and he has the same issue. This needs to get fixed!
