Free credit score
I love this app. Website is better. Had the website for years. I think since 2013. I get 2 free credit scores. I can look whenever I want. Which I do about every month. I also get free advise and the best percentages for the balances of my debt. I love the credit cards you are eligible for. I guess a down fall is that I get a bunch of junk mail and emails from credit card companies. I highly suggest this website to everyone. I'm not quite certain why people don't have the app. Your credit score is a huge part of your life. My husband has the app and his student loans make the app a little more confusing. (I don't have student loans) I wish there was a possibility to maybe have a more in-depth loan locator like a number. Also his loans have shown that he owed $20k to one loan but $40k to another. But 6 months later and constant communication with the loan company and the $40k loan dropped off. It's a little skeptical. Had a friend of mine tell me they're delinquent account wouldn't give a date on credit karma. That worried them because the delinquent accounts should fall off in 7 years. I find the companies need to update their account more but credit karma just pulls from the companies. Still love the app.
Perfect tool for getting your credit back in shape
I filed for bankruptcy 6 years ago. Thanks to CK I was able to see credit card offers for situations like mine and was able to use them to establish good credit once again. I slowly monitored and tracked my progress and found it to be super motivating (like a game to see my score keep going up and up) Just a few short years later I managed to raise my score from poor to good! I also was able to see which car loans and personal loans I qualified for, which only further improved my credit. Being able to see how different factors such as payment history and credit utilization was also very helpful for guiding me into being a more responsible credit holder. I went from a 500 to now a 720 and am still improving my score. I wish that they would teach this stuff in high school because as soon as you turn 18, credit cards eagerly temp you and if you don't know what you're doing, you can't really get yourself into trouble and under a mountain of unmanageable debt. So grateful that there is a tool like CK where you can monitor your credit without actually hurting it with hard or soft inquiries!
App is ok but the website is better
Credit Karma is awesome. Let me repeat. Credit Karma is awesome. Some people complain that when the go get a loan the Score the lender sees is different than the CK score. I get it and don't care all that much because I know different lenders rate things differently. CK should be used as a tool to understand how your score changes over time. Think of it like your weight... Your doctor's scale might say you weigh 190 but your scale at home says 183. They are different scales and both work fine, but in the end, I use my scale at home to to track how my weight is changing. My scale always works the same. I can tell my diet is working because my scale is showing progress. I use my CK scale to show progress. That's all!
Having said all that, the app is fabulous to have a quick look at my progress overall. This app is excellent for that. However, the website is better if you want to dig into specific details of "why". I use both for now. As the app grows and evolves to better match the website it will be just as awesome. I do recommend this app.
It gives a ton of info and you can't beat the price.
