What's New in Version 3.5.3
Now with full support for iOS 10! This means:
- Easily invite friends to turn-based games.
- Improved stability.
I generally play the turn-based option with a friend of mine. It's a great program--I like the option for muggins & counting. I never use the auto setting b/c I have been playing cribbage since I was a little kid, so I like keeping in practice on counting. Just wish this app were
available for droid phones too. A few glitches: the program seems to decide for itself whether to count automatically or let us count hands ourselves. Don't know why. Also, every time there is an iOS update, the method for starting a turn based game with a friend seems to change. It used to be very simple, I would select turn based, the type of scoring, and then my friends would be listed and I could select one. Now I have to go through several screens and send the friend I want to invite to play an invite. Waste of time. But it's still a good game!
Changes to UI are clunky….
My whole family plays this game as a way to stay connected for the times that we cannot get together and play around the table. The recent update actually made it more difficult to play multiple games. Previously you could move from game-to-game by a button on the right that showed open games where it was your turn. In the update, that handy function was moved to the more general menu, forcing a player to make extra selections to get to the open games. Every time. Not a good update.
The other complaint from everyone here is that the forfeit button is right below the button for moving to open games and I have selected the forfeit button several times already by mistake. Of course you can easily cancel that action, but the juxtaposition of the two buttons is another UI faux pas.
Please fix these?
Great cribbage app
I'm updating my review. As a single player this is a great game and I was really happy with it. As a multiplayer game with a specific friend it doesn't work unless the person is already on your friends list. When Game Center was deleted with the release of iOS 10 in June 2016 they should have updated this app to let users add friends through the app. They haven't done that, and as a result you can't add new friends. You can only play existing friends or random strangers. So the bottom line is that if you want to do single player games against the phone and really learn the game, I highly recommend this app. If you want to do online play, do not use this app.
I was a novice and this app has been teaching me strategy as I've gradually been moving to harder levels. Very well designed. I've improved quite a bit.
