Crossword Editor is an application to help you in the construction and printing of crosswords.
A number of users have left reviews stating that the program does not work for them. In these instances you should contact support for assistance.
You should note that it is an editor and will not, therefore, create a crossword for you.
You are the crossword creator and Crossword Editor will help to make this exercise less time consuming and more productive.

Crosswords may be any square crossword from size 8 x 8 to 31 x 31. In addition you may create a “freeform” crossword where there are no black cells in the crossword.
Words may be input manually directly into the grid or selected from the in-built word lists. You may add your own word lists to the program.
Clues may be input manually or definitions may be retrieved from web based dictionaries to use as they stand or edited to create suitable clues.
Clues may be archived for use again at a later time in another crossword.
When printing the crossword and clues you have complete control over how the printed crossword, clues, optional title and optional footer will appear.
An ink saver feature is included to cut down on the amount of black ink or toner used when printing.
You may also export the words, clues and crossword for use within another application such as a word processor.
The words and clues are exported as text files and the crossword may be exported in a variety of image formats including PDF format where the resulting output is a vector graphic able to be resized without loss of clarity.
A clueless type crossword may also be created and printed or exported in a variety of image formats.
The crossword may be exported as an Across Lite text format file ready for importing into the Across Lite program.
A word filter can be activated to filter out words from the word lists that you deem to be unacceptable.
Full spell checking of words and clues is included.
Some minor bug fixes
Sections have been re-coded to ensure compatibility with future versions of the OS
Added feature to allow spacing of clues to be altered before printing.
Ratings and Reviews
Anyone that has ever tried to make a crossword puzzle from scratch knows that this is a fairly difficult business. Of course, you can put any words (up to some limit, of course) that you desire in the puzzle, but then you need to make them all “work”. Then there is the business of numbering. The latter task is easily done with a computer, but the former task is intrinsically complicated and can be facilitated only by a mechanism that generates “suggestions” from a list. And these two tasks have been done beautifully by the developer of this program; this is an excellent application and anyone who writes a negative review is somehow missing something. It works quite well on a Mac (“left” and “right” clicking on a Mac is of course not impossible), and I use it to generate a puzzle each semester for my classes.
My only suggestion is that there might be some more options for clue formatting and printing. For the former, sub/super scripts and Greek letters (I am a physical scientist) might be useful, and a “one-page” option with small font and intercolumn spacings might be a nice feature. At the very least, it would be nice if the intercolumn space could be tweaked.
But an absolutely superb application. Anyone that has made a crossword, or even thought in a detailed way about what is involved, will realize this.
I so wish I hadn’t bought this
First of all, if you have a Mac, it’s unusable, since it requires right-clicking and left clicking. So I thought I’d just make an empty grid and print that out, using at least the 180 degree functionality. Nope. It just exported the top left corner as a jpg. Not even the whole grid. Total waste of $15. I knew I shouldn’t buy anything that hadn’t been reviewed.
