Are you tired of waiting for others to estimate the number of people that attended your event?
And how do they come up with those numbers?

CrowdSize is an application that lets you produce your own crowd estimates. By knowing the
general perimeter of the crowd and its approximate density, this application will give you an
estimated number of persons within the area you define. Decide for yourself how well an event
was attended.

CrowdSize uses Apple Maps to produce an aerial view of any location in the world and
operates in portrait mode. First type in the location of your event, or use the voice recognition
feature on your keypad, and zoom into it’s exact location. Next tap the perimeter outline of the
area you want to study, then use the slider to select a light, medium or dense factor for the
number of people you see. Press Done and that’s it. The approximate number of people within
your perimeter is presented. You can clear the calculation and the perimeter you just drew by
shaking the device if you want to produce a new calculation.

CrowdSize can do more than estimate crowds. It can also use it’s aerial images for estimating
areas in square feet or square meters. Prepare area estimates for bodies of water, parks or real
estate and multiply your area calculation by your own density factor to estimate numbers of
parking spaces or sod for the coverage of a homeowner’s yard. CrowdSize can also estimate
the area of roof tops, paving and landscaping for construction contractors and property
managers, and the calculations can be for any location in the world.

The app I've been waiting for

First, let me say, this app feels like a beta version at this point due to its primitive UI.

However, I've been waiting for something like this for a long time. As someone who attends a lot of protests, it's always difficult to get an accurate estimate of the crowd size, and whether the number is inflated or diminished is a political judgment and of itself.

This is a great way to at least get some idea, whether you're in the ballpark or not.

My suggested features would be:

- Being able to toggle seeing city streets and other lines on the map that help you orient what you are showing.

- a better description of what a dense population versus a light population is.

- And given that there are so many marches in the streets, having some easy way to highlight streets exclusively would be really helpful. (ie you could calculate the width of a city street and allow us to just highlight a line across the map for example.)

Appreciate the work on this, and reach out if you need a beta tester for a new version!

When you really want know how may attended.
