Fantastic Facebook

Best way I’ve seen to use Facebook on my desktop. Fast, smooth, looks great, easy access to everything from menu bar. And it keeps Facebook cookies off my web broswer so I don’t get tracked across the web, too.

Great implementation of Messenger, though I don’t really use Messenger.

FANTASTIC granular, separate control of notifications (menubar alert, dock icon, notifications center) for messages, notifications, and friend requests.

The version is very buggy

I love what the app promises, and I therefore downloaded it for the Sierra. Unfortunately it has caused nothing but headaches. Very unstable version. I have now reached the point where all chat windows are blank. I have resterded and reinstalled the app multiple times. One time I even completely cleaned all traces of the app and reinstalled with the same exact results. Unless there is a fix for this the app is not worth it.

Ok, but not great

Overall it works OK, I can message other people without using full-blown Facebook site, which is good.

As a messenger there are significant downsides:
1) It often loses internet connection and only recovers on app restart.
2) After Sierra update it’s often in a broken state, where window looks corrupted and text is not readable. Restart fixes this.
3) Energy usage is quite high. It uses more energy than Safari, iTunes, WhatsApp or Mail which are used throughout the day.
