Customer Reviews

Great App

I really like this app. Although I never used the others on my phone, I find this to be very complete and packed with great features. I have the Elite version, which was so much more reasonably priced than the competitors. I especially like the auto email feature so my wife knows where I am on my solo rides in case of an emergency. I still use my Garmin because I had that first, but wonder if I would buy it today after using Cyclemeter. The information I get from Cyclemeter is very much on par with Garmin Connect.

New addition to this review: I now use the Wahoo RFLK & speed sensor with Cyclemeter. Both work very well with Cyclemeter, giving me even more data and versatility. I still highly recommend this app!

My only cycle computer

I personally ride about 60 miles per week and only use this is my computer. I added the wahoo cadence monitor and heart rate monitor but my speed is only recorded with this. The screen is easy to read and you can set it to stay on during your entire ride. If you buy an auxiliary battery power won't suffer from a 2.5 + hour ride. There is very little lag to the GPS speed sensing. You can also use guided access (press home three times) to deactivate the screen buttons so that your drops of sweat won't hit the stop button accidentally. Love this app.

👎

I loved the original Cyclemeter, so much so that I've convinced many people to buy it since around 2010 but converting a paid app into a subscription app instead of making a separate one hurts all the loyal users that supported their work for years.

Yearly subscription for the privilege of using your hardware's built in features. Even the most basic of pedometer apps let you use the built in compass to orient your map and use the iPhone’s hardware for step tracking and barometer for elevation data.

They added Health support but then locked it behind a yearly subscription. Same with Notification Center and Apple Watch.

Locking basic features of your users' own hardware/operating system is ridiculous. Especially when free apps can now do the same things and link everything with HealthKit for free.

I know these things take time and effort to integrate and I'm not saying you shouldn't charge for them, but a yearly subscription to use my own hardware or have my map automatically orient isn't worth it.

The app’s description also changed to remove bullet points explaining what features are “Elite” only so new users download it and view their pop up ads.
