City of Fog is "Clearly" a Fun Way to Spend Time!

The broody, ominous setting casts a shadow over your every move as you travel through the thick and hazy fog. You explore the grounds of a small, abandoned town that is haunted by ghostly apparitions as you pass by gargoyle statues with heads turning at your presence; debris-littered back alleys; vine-covered walls and gates leading to cemeteries containing broken or fallen tombstones; to an old, desolate home with paint peeled shingles and a horrifying cellar full of decaying animal parts on top of blood stained floors. The music elevates a chilling experience with haunting climaxes at appropriate times, as well as the sounds of crows and other animals calling out as the raindrops splatter on the ground. The inventory is labeled but not interactive. There is no teleport map to indicate any objectives. The HOS are basically one type with some being fairly interactive. The puzzles are old-schooled; you have to work some out a bit. You have a great diary to record thorough story progression and to hold clues. There are no collectibles. Transition between scenes is smooth and quick; no glitches. For an old game, it was spooky and fun.

This is the best Big Fish game I've played and I've played quite a few. Despite the uninspiring cover the graphics are beautiful. My only criticism is that despite the great graphics it is sometimes hard to tell what the object in your inventory is and the game doesn't identify what it is when you choose it. Also frequently, even though you can clearly see what needs to be done and have the tool to do it with in the HO scenes, you can't do it until something else is done in close proximity to it (making OJ with the orange and the juicer, for instance).
If you are caught in the elevator after it goes down, just touch the bottom of the screen like you were backing out of the room and you will exit. The door doesn't open on the 1st floor and I agree this is very frustrating to have to figure out this oddball and counterintuitive action.
These games are also just getting too expensive especially when there are games that are just as good, if not better at half the price.

Great Storyline Slow Plot Not Left Handed Friendly

I like the game. The story moves slow, and the HOG's are a little whack. Some of them require you to add to objects to get what you need. I'd like to meet the bumpkin developer who thinks a screwdriver is a much better option than a knife for shucking an oyster to get a pearl, as I spent several times being told "that only works in the movies" while trying to do just that. Lol. The knife was for something else, but wouldn't be my first choice. The navigation lever is located in the upper right corner of the screen. Bad place for left handers because the navigation arrow disappears as soon as you stop touching the lever. You can and often do, block your vision of the screen with your own arm?!? The flow of the game is a little convoluted, and at times the navigation arrows will only give you one choice, when you have 2. Without spoiling it? At one time, it gave me one choice only, and I knew I didn't have the object necessary to go there, so I tapped backward, and figured out the game flow. This one needs some technical work before I give it better scores.
