Nearly All Perfect!
What a fun one! Gorgeous graphics, motion and voice acting, uniquely challenging HOS, and a storyline that goes well beyond generic spookiness. I have played only the demo of the first in the series ('Angel Something-or-Other'), found the hotspots slightly dicky, so, moved onto this sequel (usually I prefer to begin at the beginning).
The concept of 'Dark Dimensions' got me going from the off; a marvellous concept. And and then--wax figures? Totally had me hooked, with the aforementioned characters and great art, of course! Wax museums enchant and terrify at the same time; naturally, a very fine mix for gaming. The 'Dark Dimension' infrastucture held it all together with an entanglement of metaphysics and astrophysics/quantum theory that was not only believable but something the player can identify him/herself with.
My requests for the next game(s) are: please make the puzzles a bit less challenging and varied, and, for the HOS's, please make the objects that must be combined slightly more visually obvious; my vision is perfect, but the coal in that one scene was just next to the pick and it didn't look like coal to me (and I was looking for coal--diamond!). Keep up the sophisticated storyline, the genre always welcomes that!
Thank you for a fabulous gaming experience! I enjoyed it so very, very much. All the best to you and your team!
Darn good game!
I didn't have any of the problems that others report about HO objects not working together correctly. Everything worked fine on my iPad 2. Liked the live actor cut scenes, but hated that the voices didn't match up to the text. Didn't want to click continue for fear of missing any of the text, and therefore, some of the story. I try very hard not to use hints or strategy guide, so can't report on those. I don't use maps much on the first time thru a game, so didn't miss it, but might when I replay this in a month or so. But honestly, once you finish a section, you don't need to back, so you never really have to backtrack far at any point in this game. There was a small glitch somewhere that didn't terribly affect gameplay, but can't remember now where it was. Overall, four stars. Kept thinking I should be looking for the 'extras' that so many BF games have these days.
Lots of bad reviews on this game but I have enjoyed it and I am a long way through it now. The only thing I have not cared for is the way the HO scenes play out. Too few items and the way they have to fit or work together is awkward. Graphics are okay. Story is muddled but alright. It can be hard to know what is expected next, but that is the adventure part, right? Overall a good outing for BF. Still, miss the space adventure game BF just put out ( Eternal Journey ). Now that was a whole new adventure scenario that definitely needs more attention. We ALL have tired of the zombies and the haunted mansions and the death and cursed and all that gloom and doom. BF, please do more than death and hauntings.
