Dark Sky Weather
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Dark Sky can tell you at a glance exactly when it will rain (or snow) up to an hour in advance, so you’re free to walk the dog or run out to lunch and know you’ll stay dry. You can also explore the most beautiful weather animation you’ve ever seen, both forward in time or back.
(Dark Sky is available in the US, UK and Ireland.)
YOUR WEATHER, DOWN TO THE MINUTE
Using GPS, Dark Sky is able to create forecasts for your precise location, giving you minute-by-minute predictions for the next hour and hour-by-hour forecasts for the next day and week.
BEAUTIFUL WEATHER ANIMATIONS
The same technology that powers Dark Sky’s predictions also allows us to make the world’s first perfectly smooth radar animation. Other apps show you a chunky slideshow that makes it nearly impossible to tell how storms are moving. But Dark Sky’s radar animation lets you see the actual path of the storm: how it moved in the past, and where it’s going in the future.
Dark Sky comes with advanced notification options: Receive down-to-the-minute alerts before it starts raining at your exact location, get notified of government severe weather alerts (for such things as thunderstorms, flooding, hurricanes, etc), or even create your own custom notifications covering the next 24 hours for things like temperature, wind, precipitation and more. Even if you haven't opened the app in days, Dark Sky will tell you what you need to know, when you need to know it.
The Dark Sky Notification Center Widget tells you at a glance what's going to happen in the next hour and the next week, so you don't even have to unlock your phone to quickly check the weather before heading out.
Dark Sky looks great on your wrist. Get notifications and check out the weather for the next week with the Dark Sky app built from scratch for Apple Watch.

Gives the perceived temp!
I'm a human, not a glass of water or a pipe. So I don't care what the air temp is except when it's raining and close to freezing (and even then, it's the ground temp that determines whether you have icy roads, not the air temp). The rest of the time, I want to know the human-perceived temperature, including windchill or heat index. I've tried just about every highly-rated weather app and website, and this is the first one I've found that can make the "real feel" temp the prominently displayed one.
However, it only provides that option in the widget. And if you enable that, you can no longer see the air temp in the widget. In the app itself, the subjective temp isn't even available on the main screen—it's buried in a secondary screen.
Dark Sky is great for checking the weather right here, right now (and for the next few hours). But switching locations is more steps than it needs to be (in WeatherBug I can just swipe right/left at the top to switch between my saved locations) and while the temperature and precipitation maps are great, I can't get a traditional radar view.
So I'll stick to WeatherBug for my main weather app, but if I just want the quick weather-at-a-glance, all I need is subjective temp and precipitation, and the Dark Sky widget is the first way I've found to get that.
Best weather app, beautiful interface
The only weather app to use as far as I'm concerned, people always inquire about it when they see it for the first time. Fully compatible with the iPhone Plus sized screen resolution. The interface is simple and gorgeous, with a very Apple inspired style. The app provides a 7 day & hourly forecast in addition to accurate to the minute precipitation forecasting for the next 60 minutes. Loads extremely quickly, couldn't more highly recommend it. Worth the small price, updated regularly, and can easily become your only weather app.
Update: Still absolutely love it, but I've noticed snow accumulation forecasts tend to be a little less accurate, often on the high side. Would appreciate improved accuracy.
I like this app. The one issue I have with it is, I set the weather alert on the app to tell me if it will reach freezing temperatures so I will know to cover the pipes in the event of a freeze. The problem is, the app alerts you based on 12:00 midnight. AKA It provides the weather forecast from 12:00 - 12:00, a full 24 hours, but if it alerts me at 7:00 AM I only get warnings about freezing temperatures from 7:00 to 24:00. I miss an entire 7 hours of warning at the time when it is most likely to freeze.
I would like to see the app give a full 24 hours notice based on the time the warning is requested. For example, if I request it warn me at 7:00 AM, can the app provide warnings from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM the next day? That would be awesome. THanks.
