DATUM Worth It
DATUM has worked very well for me. The only thing I wish is there were more options for CSV or OTHER Export where it would be nice for example to be able to specifiy exporting every field as text i.e. quotes around the fields. But I was able to work around these limitations but it would be much better if it had more flexibility on export.
Otherwise the SQL capabilities within the software are AWESOME and I could do all these things I needed to do to manipulate data since the files I was working on were too big for Excel exceeding the 1 MM record limit of Excel but were not problem at all for Datum.
Nice job guys. Keep up the good work and improve the flexibility of Export if you would.
Does not import XLS, even after “fix"
Cannot import XLS CSV at all. Have attempted multiple times with 3 column sheet, no spaces in column names, short column names.
Either gives “duplicate columns” or “Error importing into new table:disk I/O error”
Also, “comma” is spelled with 2 m’s, otherwise it’s just a coma.
This is a great starting point for managing SQLite database files. It’s got a decent feature set and is a much better value than something like Navicat.
One feature that would be great is the ability to connect to databases on remote servers. I haven’t been able to figure out how to open a database on my Debian server. Datum doesn’t see anything that isn’t mounted locally.
That said, I’m pleased with the purchase.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
