What's New in Version 1.13
- Introducing Publish!
Publish enables you to handpick entries to share with family, friends, and the world. Publish creates an individual webpage on dayone.me for each entry you choose to publish. By default, you're the only one that will know the URL for each published entry. If you want to share entries with more people, you can post to social services like Facebook, Twitter, and Foursquare on a per-entry basis. Each entry retains social sharing stats and links, including views, likes, and shares. Learn more about Publish at http://dayone.me. (Note: Publish is available for iPhone only. iPad will be coming in a future update.)
- Improved app responsiveness and speed.
- Updated TextExpander support.
- Tap "new entry" button in read mode to create a photo or text entry.
- Implemented iRate prompt (only prompts once).
- Stability improvements.
- Various bug fixes.
We love Day One and hope you do, too. Please leave a review in the App Store—we'd appreciate it!

The first journal application that I actually use.
I have wanted to journal for about 15 years, but never stuck with it for various reasons. I had tried everything… moleskin, notepad, word, databases, evernote. None of them worked for me, I would peter off about a short time.
Day One is an application that I love, other than iOS/OSX itself (and maybe iMessage) is my most used application.
Going back through and seeing the small moments that I capture are a true treasue, I know that I would have forgotten them and they would have been lost to the either if it were not for Day One. Like a picture of my son riding the vacuum cleaner one day while we were getting ready to do chores. It was a small event but seeing the memory again brings it back and how happy he was.
The way it integrates between all of my devices is seamless, it also offers the ability to script on the Mac which is useful to me as I am an advanced user. I also love the new TextExpander support, it makes the app SOOO useful.
This is one set of apps that is worth every penny on both platforms.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Great tool for quick journaling. Doesn't do anything exotic, but that's the beauty of it. Also available on Mac, so you can have the journal synced onto several machines, in addition to iCloud.
UPDATE: I'm now at almost two thousand entries. It has slowed a bit but otherwise unaffected. Still very pleased with the app, which I use daily.
UPDATE 2: Now reducing my rating to three stars with the addition of the Publish feature.
The Publish feature is entirely optional and I don't have to use it. But I am disappointed that effort was wasted introducing a feature so completely odds with the purpose of Day One: a private journal. There are umpteen hundred ways to spill your guts over the internet, we don't need another.
There are features that would be immediately useful in Day One, like multiple journals. Useful enough to pay a new fee for. Useless social features should be left out of this app.
Like the app but not the latest feature
I like this app for the key feature it provides - private journaling. Like the cross device ubiquity of it as well. Like the reminders and the menubar option on osx to quickly add an entry.
Was very disappointed with the new Publish feature. It's antithetical to the whole purpose of this app - keeping things private. Yes it's optional but as a developer, I cringe to think of all the resources spent on this feature when there are so many other things you can do (and when there are tons of publishing options on the web). Examples: add
encryption, add audio/video, etc. Focus on what your core feature is and make it better. Hope someone who makes the call is reading this.
