An Essential App

When I visualize my iPhone or iPad, I put it in an utilitarian context. The value of my actions are defined by what I get out of them, either by learning something new or by using what I know to solve problems or to create something. Things like a simple calculator app, my New Yorker magazine app, or my pixel editor. It's a visual in my mind that's not always created in the real world, what with attention-grabbing apps like Twitter and Twitch. Thankfully, Day One helps me to realize that visual. It's an app that helps you in many ways of becoming a better writer, as well as a more reflective person. At the end of my day I can pull out my iPad and intuitively reflect on what I've done that day. As I go through each entry, I quickly begin to understand the kind of person I am, as well as the person I want to be. Through my writings, I define myself. Day One is an identity tool, and I'm excited to see what revelations I will find in the coming days, months, and years. For that, I fully recommend Day One, and wish you well on your internal journey should you pick it up.

My only recommendation is to make the Calendar the default window when opening the app, as it's a far more welcoming entrance than the current, default menu now. The UI system can stay exactly the same, with the Menu option bringing you to the default list menu from the Calendar.

Really Perfect

I have searched and searched and searched for the perfect diary app. I had always longed for this one, but it cost money and I had a chief principle not to spend money on apps. Besides, I couldn't pay the 4.99 because that was way too much money to spend on an app to decide I didn't like it. But one week, on my Starbucks app, this was the free app of the week. I was thrilled! I got it, and now I'm so thankful for that Starbucks app. DayOne is the best app. It lets you add pictures to your diary entries, the current weather, your location, the current music that you're listening to, and even a little icon saying wether you are on a plane, automobile, bike, plane, eating, walking, running, or stationary to make your day even more vivid. You can have a header, bold print, and italicized print. You can upload your entries to other apps and add a passcode that appears when you open the app so others can't read your secrets. ☺️ It's straightforward and easy to use. The app is beautifully laid out and is on display among my most beautiful apps. If I had paid the five bucks, I would have been satisfied.
Highly recommend, especially for those who have been searching for a diary app. (Get the Starbucks app! Free app every week!)

Love it

This is the first time ever that I'm writing a review! That's how much I love this app! It's got me excited to journal again, and with the piece of mind that my entries are secured with a lock. First off, I love that you can add weather, location, and tags! This really brings life to the entries. You'll be able to remember everything about that day. a few things that could be improved is being able to add multiple pictures to each entry. I personally take multiple pictures at each place i am to capture different things and that would be great if I could add all of it to the entry instead of making multiple entries with just one picture in it. The next thing I think would bring this to another level would be in the activity area if there could be a 'write in' option. For instance, if I'm hiking while I'm journaling that would be amazing to be able to write hiking instead of walking. Or instead of stationary, I could put laying in bed, etc. That would add a whole nother notch to the journaling experience so when I look back at my entry, I'll know exactly what I was doing, where I was, what the weather was like and everything the exact moment I was writing.
