Fix your App
Today's Metro Misfortune comes in a long line of other such events.
The time was 4:40. The G2 was scheduled to arrive at Prospect St in Georgetown at 4:51. My Real Time meter showed that the next bus wouldn't be here for at least 20 minutes. As a frequent victim of dead-wrong times on the app, I figured I'd wait at the stop anyway just in case it still showed up according to the regular schedule.
No more than 2 minutes later, the bus arrived when I was in the Car Barn tossing a paper cup. I would have been more vigilant, but the realtime prediction still said 20 minutes and the schedule said 4:51, so I still had a solid 7 or 8 minutes even by the normal schedule. I chased it three blocks to no avail. Other bus riders can empathize with the soul-crushing feeling of seeing your bus drive into the distance and knowing that you get to wait for another 30 minutes.
This happens to me all the time. I'm going to have nightmares about chasing the bus for years to come. Working in the metro-less wasteland of Georgetown just makes it worse.
The real-time predictions are often right. But when they're wrong, which is easily just as often, it extends a 50 minute commute to an hour and a half thanks to the G2's infamous "come when I want" mentality.
In short, please for the love of all that is good in the world, fix your app. DC commuters are counting on you to keep our tenuous sanity in check. So far not good.
Very Good and Meets My Needs
Like the app and use it often. Very predictable 90% of the time and I think when it's not it's on Metrobus GPS issues not the app. I write that because often times when I see a long wait predicted I check a rival app and same info. My one gripe is when sending update info to the app developer I wish they'd investigate faster and make corrections. There are a few renamed routes that I sent to review folks that still show wrong route info months later, i e in DC U2 is now V2 and V7 and V9 have been discontinued replaced by a new route V4. The predicted times show the correct route but the title of the routes are wrong. Other than that, it's all good
Very Useful and Accurate
I'm new to DMV. I can tell you that this is very useful and on time and very reliable for me despite the most recent reviews I have seen. Shows you the closest bus stop and metros, the schedule and the time. No need to look at papers for time. There's another app just like this but a white icon, that has less features. One thing I will suggest is to add a map like Google to show you how to get from point A to B (GPS). This app in particular is the best out of all apps for transportation in the DMV. Highly Recommend. =)
