What a Disappointment, What Could Have Been!
If this concept could take off, I'd be all for it. I supported it for months, bought promotional gift certificates, liked the easy-to-use app, actually got to have concessions which I usually couldn't splurge on, and used this service to purchase my tickets and check movie times... My family and I were thrilled by Dealflicks.
But then the movies I wanted to see stopped offering showtimes I could get to, so my promotional credit I had gotten from my gift certificate bonus expired (making the purchase go from a great deal to a breaking even deal), and then my theater stopped accepting Dealflicks after I bought the large gift card. Now I have to drive 30 miles to the nearest theater that accepts Dealflicks, making this not a savings at all because of fuel costs. When the theater DID still accept Dealflicks, the employees were always confused or annoyed when I told them I had a Dealflicks purchase, and it slowed down the process. I'm sure employee complaints and loss of revenue are components in what helped get Dealflicks removed from the chain to begin with.
I'm discouraged because I liked the concept, the service, and I'm frustrated about the lost money invested. Oh well, win some and lose some. I'll have one last road trip to spend my remaining Dealbucks and then call it quits with the company unless my local theater chain can be persuaded to reinstate Dealflicks again.
Downloaded this app, but won't be using
A friend recommended this app. I tried to use for the first time. Two tickets at my theatre were going to cost $18. Deal flicks had for $15. When I got to checkout I saw that there was a $1.60 convenience fee. So I would have basically saved $1.40. Decided this isn't for me. I'm willing to just purchase my tickets directly from the theatre.
Waste of time!
This was a fine service in the beginning saving $4-$5 per "deal". Now they have slipped in a "user fee" of $1.70. Not sure why? Their services and offerings have not changed since the beginning. Now I'm only saving $2-$3 per deal? Not worth your time! On top of their misleading advertising saying you're saving 20% or 22%. You're maybe saving 10% after the "user fee" comes off.
