Get ahead of your game by harnessing over seventy years of Mark and Terry Drury’s whitetail hunting expertise along with hour by hour real-time, algorithm-driven deer movement forecasts for your precise location with the new Drury Outdoors DeerCast app.

DeerCast combines your local weather information with the distinct characteristics of each of the THIRTEEN phases of whitetail season to deliver a custom forecast for peak deer activity where you hunt. Down to the hour, on whatever piece of ground you specify, this groundbreaking algorithm interprets 11 key conditions that Mark and Terry have identified as crucial to deer movement. They’ve cracked the code for deer movement and exported it from their heads and into this app to help you become a better hunter.

DeerCast is also your hub for Mossy Oak & DODTV content, a hefty collection logging in over 20,000 minutes of adrenaline-fueled hunt footage. The Mossy Oak team is joining forces with Drury Outdoors to deliver content in the news feed portion of the app. For the first time ever, watch the DOD team’s actual hunts and see video of buck kills as they happen during the season. Interact with DOD team members in ways like never before and submit photos from your hunts that could be featured on Drury Outdoors social media!

Get educated with more in-depth, how-to content than ever before and be entertained with every shred of DODTV at your fingertips, including exclusive content only on the app. If that weren’t enough, we’re also giving you complete access to the Drury Outdoors video vault. Watch titles all the way back to 1989 with access to the entire DOD video library.

Glitchy, but highly recommended

I just got this app. I installed it, set my location and then tried to watch some videos. For example, I tried watching the video about Mark’s rut hunting. First the video had no sound. I saw on these reviews that I have to have my ringer on. (Which is a major issue for me when hunting) So in the process of trying to watch a video and finding out how to get sound, the app crashed twice. It seems like every time I exit out of a video, the app crashes.

The app is definitely something that I would probably pay for if it worked correctly. There just seems to be a lot of glitches in it. Now, I understand that in the process of developing and releasing apps there is a matter of testing and updating it to remove the glitches. Getting the bugs worked out so to say. That is why I am giving it 5 stars. I see it all the time, a company releases an app, a bunch of people get the app and try it out. They realize that it does not work perfectly (although it is free and they lost nothing except a little time) and they proceed to give it terrible reviews. Then the company updates and fixes all of the issues in the app and the app gets running very smooth. Those negative reviewers never update their review so it looks like the app has a bunch of negative reviews. So the company updates and improves the app and the negative people never update their reviews. If you ask me, sounds like the negative reviewers are the ones who should be defending their review.

Sorry about those crashes! This is one we haven't heard much of and would like to know more. Will you shoot us an email at so we can dig in a little more?

And more updates are on the way!

Gives you an edge

I enjoy using this app and check it frequently. I’ve used it all Fall so far. It gives hunters invaluable information and a place to connect with like minded people. I’ve noticed a minor bug or two....but they seem to get addressed quickly when they arise. What I witness afield isn’t always exactly what the app says they will be...but it’s pretty darn close most of the time. A lot more accurate then my local weather forecast on the news lol. I tell every hunter I meet to get the app if they don’t currently have it. That being said...I’m not the type of person to pay for apps on my phone. It doesn’t matter how good they are....and this app is great....but I’ll continue to use it until I have to pay for it. I don’t begrudge anyone a paycheck, I just don’t pay for apps.

No guess work!

Takes all the guess work out of my decisions to hunt. The mad scientist really got it nailed down to a qualitative science. To bad quantitative science is only currently looking at some of the “times” to hunt on limited data sets. Weather systems, pressure, distances traveled etc, If they would combine there science together to include habitat types travels to and from during cold fronts/warm periods a discernible pattern would surely emerge. And I have a masters degree in wildlife management and I can see that.
Colder the weather the more deer you see in more open areas. Yes they move amount/distance in the same cold or hot weather it’s the habitat that they move in that differs. Colder weather equals more open spaces thus more hunters harvesting game!
That’s common sense and science! Life long observations passed down from hunter to hunter
