What's New

Version 3.7.1

This update — unfortunately — removes the now-inoperative interface for Amazon domains except the United States and Canada. On October 25, Amazon UK, France, Spain, and Italy joined Japan and Germany in closing Delicious Monster's Associate accounts. Therefore searching, lookups (retrieving detailed product information), and selling items in those stores is no longer possible. We’re extremely sorry we can no longer offer this service.

We’ve also fixed a longstanding bug where in some places (eg, lists) item covers would initially draw empty, then draw their contents, then draw empty again, and then finally draw their contents for good, a new bug from High Sierra where item covers in the right sidebar would do a strange little dance of getting wider and skinnier and moving out of sync when the right sidebar was resized by the user, and a new bug from HIgh Sierra where reszing sidebars was unnecessarily laggy and slow.

Finally, we have restored localizations that were lost in 3.7 due to unexpected changes in macOS High Sierra.

I love this app.

I have used this app since it first came out. Throughout the years we have moved across country and back again (thank you Uncle Sam), and each time we unpacked the many boxes of books and DVDs, DL has been there to help reorient and reintegrate our extensive library into its new home. It’s nice knowing that I have an approximate value of items should a box go missing or get damaged. I also store my books by publisher on shelves, and sometimes the movers will pack boxes ways that boggle the mind. Calling up my DL library and sorting by publisher as I shelve my books gives me a great idea of what books might still be outstanding and how much room I’ll need to save on the shelf before opening a new box. It just makes *everything* easier.

I’ve tried other apps just for fun as well as other online book cataloging sites and nothing compares. This is by far the easiest catologuing program I’ve used and I hope more improvements are in the development pipeline.

Thanks, Wil Shipley.

You can use this program to transfer a list to your iPhone or iPad

This is a terrific cataloging program, with a pioneering interface. I like to keep a list of my music and books to iPhone or iPad. Use the “Export to …” menu in Delicious Library. Select “Another application ..” which allows export to a CSV file compatible with Numbers. Select the fields you want in your list (e.g. Creator, Title, Publisher). This spreadsheet can be transferred to your portable device via iCloud or Files app. It’s easy to search it from the Numbers app when you are shopping. (The spreadsheet doesn’t automatically re-sync with Delicious Library, but if you export and replace your list every now and then, for example before a shopping trip, it works well).

Needs iPad/iPhone Version

This is a great program that I have been using off and on for over five years and it makes it easier to keep my library straight than my old dBase files. When there is an issue, the Monster team is very responsive. I agree with HawLL, I have a large SF library and would like to have my inventory of books on my iPhone to check when I am at the bookstore…but that is a wishlist item…not a ding on the program. My only complaint is against publishers in that all of my older books from the 70s and 80s have to be entered by hand as the barcodes on the back of books published back then appear to have been based on pricing for sales and not on the book title itself.
