Delicious Scanner is a companion app to Delicious Library 3 for OS X that scans UPC and EAN barcodes.
If you don’t own Delicious Library 3, do not get this app, it won’t do anything useful for you.
Needs one more thing
I agree that the ability to scan away from your Delicious Library database is great. The problem is that if it can’t find the item when you do connect it to the database, you just get an error. If you have scanned a large number of books while the database is offline, or you are at your storage facility, then it can be very difficult to determine which books need to be put in manually. I’d love it if this scanner had the ability to check if the item is findable during the scan, whether I’m on wifi or cellular. It doesn’t have to load the data, just check at the time of scanning. It might be nice at that point to be able to snap a photo or two for later manual updating. If it had something like this, Delicious Scanner would get a strong 5 star rating from me.
Been waiting for this for ever.
Nice undocumented feature: it does not require a library connection to scan. So you can walk around your entire house and scan a bunch of items, it stores the UPCs until you connect with the library. So you could go to your storage space and scan a bunch of stuff, come home and sync it all up with your desktop.
While the iOS scanner does scan wicked fast, it can't connect reliably to the Mac program because apparently the Bonjour library they use constantly re-detects your Mac, renaming it and therefore the iOS scanner can't keep up with what the pairing ID is. Sadly there's no other way to transfer the scans - I wish you could plug in via USB and "download" them via iTunes.
