Terrible Interface - Confusing Layout/Navigation, No Pinch to resize!
Update: Jan 31. Still a terrible app! Won't load paper. Have to put in password every few days! Here's the best...it came up today and asked me to rate it! It failed at logging back to the App Store. For good reason, I suppose. I can't believe I paid for a digital subscription and I get this kind of service.
The new version is absolutely terrible. The old one was bad enough. Honestly, these folks need to understand that this type of distribution is the future and get it in gear! Dinosaur thinking on this app. Cannot download to take with you any longer. Although the last update to the old app ruined that too (even though it would download you couldn't view offline). Why would you disable that? Who doesn't take the paper with you? The whole interface now is rigid and lacks flexibility. Page view cuts off top of page so you cannot see it. I think they are trying to get the "print" sales back up by making this experience poor. Finally, why do I have to get a digital version one hour later than I used to get the paper delivered!!! Really, they can print and deliver to my house faster than a digital edition? Amazing! Oh yeah, they never advised their paying subscribers the old app doesn't download anymore. Several days without paper!
This could be a great addition to the paper, but it leaves a lot to be desired. I do enjoy having a digital connection to the post when I'm on the road, but it always fails to function properly on the first attempt. The articles hardly ever cache properly when switched to offline mode which is always a frustrating surprise when I want to read something. Also, having to log into an external website to view the "digital replica addition" is frustrating. It would be great to have the look of a physical paper but it also won't download for offline viewing (even though it constantly says it's downloading). This could be a great addition to the actual paper, but it still misses the mark. Please improve this app!
Read First Every Day
The layout and ease of navigating among Sections, and the timely stories within them, makes DP app for iPad my favorite reading start for daily news updates about Colorado. Articles are well-written, most are photo-illustrated, and details appear to be professionally edited throughout.
