One man. One Bus. Three hundred and sixty miles of simulated post-apocalyptic desert, and the endless struggle between man and nature personified.
Desert Bus. The most realistic verisimilitude reality game ever created by man or beast or man-beast is here at last. So real in action, you’ll think you were really the driver of a bus crossing a Desert.
No way out, no way home but the long way - by tow truck. Desert Bus puts you, the player, to the ultimate test of endurance in this mind-numbing blowout experience. There is no other game quite like Desert Bus.
Originally conceived by Penn, Teller, and Eddie Gorodetsky, this game was made in support of the annual Desert Bus for Hope charity fundraiser for Child's Play, hosted by the crew from LoadingReadyRun.
This game is the single greatest recreation of desert bus I have ever played. I find however there are a couple things off.
First the lack of a naming feature removes the iconic RPG elements that started the original off right. The next problem I find is how the day cycles of the original aren't remade in this game. The day to night to dusk to night to dusk again really set the tone of the experience.
I also found after playing for 40 hour, when I first crashed that there was no towing back to my stop in real time as in the original.
The biggest problem though really comes due to the system. With the big button on my iPhone I can pause the game and take a break. As I believe the original said, "Life doesn't have a pause button and neither does this game."
I did find the ability to honk the horn a welcome call back to the original and overall this game is a buy.
An excellent portable version of one of the most realistic games ever made.
What does it have to offer? Let's see. The thrills of the Tucson-Las Vegas route. The beautiful, varied scenery of the southwestern United States. The challenges of driving in the dark. The bug splat that appears on the windshield approx. 5 hours in. The horn - you know, in case you encounter any traffic. This is the pinnacle of iPhone gaming - everything else is downhill from here! I mean that in a metaphorical sense, of course; there aren't any hills in this game.
My only complaint? I just wish the bus had working windshield wipers.
Best game on iOS yet!!!
This is hands down the best game to come from the iPhone. From the scenic desert you drive through to the many hazards that force you to get a tow truck this game has something for everyone. So far it's been THE best role playing experience I've ever had. When I play this game I really feel like an actual bus driver. Plus the value for money...I paid 99 cents and at a staggering 40+ hours I'm still nowhere close to finishing this amazing game. Infinity Blade has absolutely nothing on this game!!!
