Dice Wars

Dice Wars is a unique new turn-based strategy game from Powerise Interactive. Using nothing but dice and a randomly generated territory map made of hexagons, the game is similar in gameplay to that of the board game, Risk, though much simpler and quicker to play. The objective is to conquer all territories and eliminate all your opponents by attacking them with dice.

Support Single and Multi-Player games. The single-player game may be played with up to five (5) computer opponents, selectable at the game's main menu. Simply choose a number and let the game begin. The Multi-Player modes support play against your friends on same machine.

Each turn you may attack any opponent's territory from one of your adjacent territories as long as your territory has more than one (1) die on it; and you may attack as many territories as you wish. Your turn ends when you click the "End Turn" button.

The rules of combat between two adjacent territories are simple: all dice on the attacking territory are thrown and the total number of pips are added and compared against the total of throwing all dice from the defending territory. If the attacker's total is greater than the defender's, all attacking dice (minus one) move onto the defender's territory thus capturing it, and the defender dice for that territory are all removed. If the defender's total is greater than or equal to the attacker's total, the attacker loses all but one die for that territory.

No movement of dice is allowed between territories other than by attacking as noted above. At the conclusion of each turn, the greatest number of adjoining territories you have is calculated, and you are awarded a bonus of that number of dice. They are then automatically and randomly placed throughout all of your territories, up to a maximum of eight (8) dice on a single territory.

Good Luck.

Good game, but app needs lots of polish

I bought this app because I really enjoy the online version of the game. The app took a huge step back in terms of playability when it met the iPhone, however. Just to list a few things that would make the game WAY more enjoyable:

- There needs to be a preference to always skip roll viewing. I don't care what the actual rolls are, and I never will.
- Game option buttons need to be larger and clearer. Perhaps create a "Menu" button and put actions in there. No part of this game's UI takes advantage of the iPhone's elegant features and guidelines.
- User shouldn't have to go first every time in single player. This can be a huge strategic disadvantage.
- Game instructions only take a small portion of the screen and are so aliased that they're unreadable.
- I don't find any of the sounds to be useful, and rather find them very annoying. I'm forced to mute the game every time I play.

I really like the concept of Dice Wars, and I think the game could be way more popular on iPhone if the rough edges were sanded down. Otherwise, I fear for your sake that someone else will come along and copy the game with a different name and a better app.

Flawed, but fixable

Mixed bag on thus one. The main problem I find is the system doesn't allocate new dice when they're earned, it allocates them the turn after. This means if I start from two spaces and conquer 16 others in one turn, I am still only awarded two dice. It's only on the next turn that I get the proper reinforcements, assuming the other players haven't negated all my gains. The automated players are NOT AFFECTED by this flaw, giving them a massive advantage. If this problem were fixed, the game would be excellent.

Decent time killer

There are a lot of single star reviews but the game is entertaining enough to kill about an hour at a time. Don't expect a lot and it's worth the money.

Could be worth more if the updated and maybe added stats or something.
