Advertisement has Changed My Opinion
I previously rated this app a five star rating. I still give it a five star rating, however, now, every time that I want to look up a word, I not only have pop up adds, but I have to hear the same old advertisements. It is virtually impossible to read and listen to advertisements, so I hope they remove the voice activated advertisements. Other than the adds, it is a great application!
I do enjoy the biographies of famous Authors and the opportunity to read quotes or examples of the authors' books and literatures. Especially from the 1800's. A glimpse into the past and how our cultures have evolved, regarding etiquette, and formalities. We have lost our higher standards of Education, especially regarding our English linguistics, vocabulary and composition. People spoke much more eloquently with dignity and their vocabularies were much more broader during the Middle-Ages, for example, playwright and actor William Shakespeare's writings were superb and he was born in 1564 and died during the dawning of the Renaissance period.

Try not to infuse your particulate opinion in the definitions
I generally like this site, you have a lot of useful information. However, some of what you print is laced with prejudices and not in the way you think it might be.
For example, in explaining some words or thoughts, like the word prejudicious, you state one example to more clearly support your definition: ‘ that whites have preconceived ideas about blacks.’ Maybe you could have included that ‘blacks also have preconceived ideas about whites’, or that some ethnicities have preconceived ideas about other ethnicities.’ You are furthering the idea that whites in particular are against blacks. This furthers incites of hatefulness in our culture.
Every culture and ethnicity has preconceived ideas about each other, but you chose that one. It’s not just not distasteful but it puts the onus and ‘blame’ on white people inly. A continuance of this type of rhetoric is enough for me to discontinue your app. I already know that you really don’t care but maybe you could think about it.
I’ve donated to your app on several occasions. We all should strive to be colorblind, and look at the good attributes that each can offer, without imprinting this attitude into you definitions.
Purchased after reading reviews...
I downloaded the free version first, however I quickly saw that the quality of the info and the amount give was well worth the upgrade to get rid of the ads. I also realized that I have been using one other mobile dictionary for so many years that it would be great to see what another has to offer. The reviews were so consistently great that I had to download. I prefer ad free so I immediately sprung for the $2. It is well worth $2!!! It is more than worth $2 if you love words. I ended up here because I was looking for a proverb and ended up on the idiom page of the website and saw that I could download an app. My future use remains to be seen, however look forward to using this app and being motivated to grow my word strength again...
1st update...the idiom section includes a short video that gives examples of the idiom! It was simple, clear, quick, and very teachable. I love this app already!
