Description

This application is a GUI front-end for DIG program - "DNS lookup utility". Application is designed only for public name servers. In addition you can send emails with query results and access major free DNS resolvers.

dig (domain information groper) is a flexible tool for interrogating DNS name servers. It performs DNS lookups and displays the answers that are returned from the name server(s) that were queried. Most DNS administrators use dig to troubleshoot DNS problems because of its flexibility, ease of use and clarity of output. Other lookup tools tend to have less functionality than dig.

Ratings and Reviews

Nice

I like the potential this app has. Yes, its not hard to type dig and the options on a command prompt but its also nice to do it from a GUI like this. My request would be to save favorite NS servers instead of having to add them in the custom area. I have NS servers I like testing against and would prefer the ability to edit the favorites button.

Very nice DNS tool I’ve used for years

TechClock

Excellent DNS lookup tool, fast and very flexible and developer has continued to maintain the application and update it. Meets the objective of being and easier than using the command line.

really only works for public DNS servers

regexp

Not sure why someone would develop an application that only works with public DNS servers and not any DNS server. It greatly limits the usefulness of the tool.
