App Continues to Get Worse
When the new styled version was released, a lot of people hated how it looks. I don't mind it. I actually applauded it because it seemed like the Digg team was working towards a really great app.
But there was no dark mode. They brought that back, but then there's more bugs. Another release, more bugs introduced.
As it stands right now, when viewing your feed and you open the last unread article, it will crash. Doesn't matter where that article might be, as long as it's the last one you read, the app will crash. Upon reopening the app everything is marked as read. If you hide read articles, it's a pain.
Social media sites don't remain logged in, either. When I go to a link from within an article, and that includes a tweet, if I try and retweet it I'm repeatedly prompted to log in again. But then it just takes me to my Twitter feed. If I try and navigate back the article is marked as read and then isn't there anymore. How can mobile safari do it but not Digg??
No way I can endorse this app in its current form. Fix the crashes and I'd gladly rate it 4-5 stars. But for now use safari.
Buggy but still the best content
Yeah the new version is buggy. Biggest gripe, when i bookmark an article and check back later, I have no bookmarks saved. Oof. Some issues with video playback too - hiccups really. The interface is perfectly simple and easy to navigate though. I think people are a bit harsh in their reviews which is probably the only reason I chimed in.
The reason I still use Digg on the regular is the content. Digg consistently delivers an awesome blend of articles ranging from pointless/hilarious to relevant/pressing. I love it and I check the app multiple times a day, regardless of the "unneeded" and buggy facelift.
Bring back text only
I used to read Digg all the time using the text only feature that would remove images and formatting from articles. It really helped when I had a slow connection. Now that function is removed, and it takes me way longer to access the articles I want to read. Please bring this functionality back. It was really useful.
