What's New in Version 8.0
All the features you love, plus a few more, with a fresh new design.
What’s new: 50+ workout types, new UI and navigation, customizable home screen with activity feed, health auto sync and more.
New update: good and bad
Mixed bag of reviews showing for the newest update.
The Good: I may be in the minority, but I kind of like the customizable carousel for the workout selection. I can select a workout with a quick swipe and tap.
The Bad: they broke several links to apps. I've seen other users mention theirs. Mine was MyFitnessPal. The auto sync hasn't worked since the update. It's like they put a ton of work into redesigning the UI, but didn't take the other apps that users may rely on.
The Questionable: calorie counts. I've read other users stating that their counts are "half of what they were before." Ok. Mine are a little less, but not much. Here's the thing: if they corrected the algorithm to more accurately reflect calories burned, is this an issue? No. It's an important improvement. More accurate data is better for your goals. If it's a mistake...how bad is it really? If you were getting a high count before and using it to justify a donut, this just means you've got to work a bit harder for that maple glazed long john.
Lipstick on a pig
I am a trainer; I work clients out with Heart Zones for cardio so a heart rate monitor and a clear screen is essential to my work. I'm also a rower and a swimmer. I used to love Digifit's easy to read graphs and the flexibility to plug in my own HR numbers. I also loved their interaction with so many other apps, specifically Wahoo.
Now their update seems merely cosmetic. I can't modify any of the fields for my indoor rowing to plug in watts, 500m splits, strokes/minute or drag factor settings. Even one of those metrics would help but it's basically just a folder. (Might as well keep the file on a spreadsheet and store it in Dropbox.)
Finally their integration with Apple Health is terrible. They, of course, blame Apple which may have merit except that Wahoo integrates quite nicely with Apple Health. And since Digifit no longer partners with Wahoo I can't even create a simple work around. It's a shame.
works great with my equipment
I have used Digifit for about 4 years now and the new version is easier to set at the workout you want and is cleaner to read. I also like the fact that it kept all my information but that was probably also because I back up my iPhone using iCloud too. It looks great in both iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6 formats. It is still my most reliable app for keeping track of my workout. Peared with a heartrate monitor and/or a footpod to workout and I find it works great with both. I get motivated to move.
