I've been using the app for a little less than 6 months and found it extremely easy to use with little to no learning curve. I love how it's formatted in text messages and the appearance of the app itself is very pretty and minimal. New additions have been added so you can tell them a limit that you would like the app to stop saving at and, on average, I have not experienced it taking more than about $2 at a time (excluding a "goal" that I set where it began taking out $18 at a time - I cancelled this goal). Unfortunately, today I was asked to sign a new terms and conditions form that identified that Digit is now a paid service at $2.99/mo. I do not have a lot of disposable income (college student and part-timer). I got digit because I legitimately didn't think I had the money to save. Even though my savings have been fairly small ($60 in 6 months), I was so proud to check the app and see that I had a real "rainy day fund"; that I actually had saved money. That being said, I am still not at a point where it seems viable to pay a subscription to save money. The 1% bonuses every three months can not offset the cost until you reach very high savings levels and I don't have the network to endlessly recruit friends for $5. I am now on the lookout for alternatives. I'm disappointed to have to let Digit go.
So many complaints
I've been reading through the comments and there are so many complaints about Digit charging 2.99/month...really? Is that really going to make or break it for you? I LOVE digit. It's the first thing that has successfully helped me save. And when I say it's the first thing that's helped me save, I literally mean very first thing ever. Before I started using digit I didn't have any savings at all. Since using it for about a year or less I have a few grand! Saving has always been extremely hard for me but Digit has helped me come a long way. I love that you can set goals and bills now so it saves a certain amount by a certain date. There are some bugs to be figured out, but what app doesn't have any bugs to fix? I've had a few instances where Digit has withdrawn over $100 and that's a bit steep, but, it was going towards a goal that had a due date. So, I really can't complain. Plus, I was able to afford it taking big amounts out at the time. I think anyone who has trouble saving money should give Digit a try! I can't speak highly enough of it. All these bad reviews are pretty dramatic. Try it out for yourself.
Love it but needs some bugs fixed
I absolutely love this app and enjoy checking it everyday to see how much I've been saving. However, recently it's been saving $30+ a day in my rainy day account but $0 in my goals. I have three goals set up at different dates to play around with it to see what the deal was, but it's been weeks and they're still at $0. I'm super confused and would love for that bug to be fixed or to at least have some clarification as to why it's doing that. I also would like to not have $30/day be saved. I liked the $2-$11 a day it was doing not too long ago. And don't get me wrong, if I don't spend any money for a few days and it takes $30 the next day out, that's totally fine. But $30 every single day these past few days has me a little freaked out.
I am still loving this app, though, and I would still highly recommend it. And it's completely ridiculous how people are upset about the $3/month. Get over yourselves, jerks. People don't like working for free.
