Disaster Alert is a free, mobile app that provides individuals, families, and their loved ones with the information they need to stay safe anywhere in the world. Built on PDC’s DisasterAWARE® platform, Disaster Alert™ offers near real-time updates about 18 different types of active hazards as they are unfolding around the globe.
With Disaster Alert, you can customize early warning alerts, view situational analysis reports, and access modeled hazard impacts for select hazards in a single, easy-to-use map interface. Disaster Alert’s continuous stream of new information is automatically derived from only scientifically verified sources. When no official source is available, alerts are updated manually, presenting a small lag in time.
Hazard updates provided with Disaster Alert include only active hazards. “Active Hazards” are part of a collection of recent incidents that have been designated as potentially hazardous to people, property, or assets by PDC.
Global events (Automated): Hurricanes (tropical cyclones / typhoons), earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanos, floods, wildfires. Also included for the U.S. only are tornados and winter storms.
Other Major events (Manual): Marine hazards, storms, droughts, and manmade incidents. Also included for Hawaii only are high surf advisories, high winds, and flash floods.
*Additional hazards will be included as new sources and algorithms are identified and verified.

Not As Good After Update
I’ve been using Disaster Alert for a few years. It seems with every update, I like it less. I have family in HI so keep track of hurricanes & such there. At first I could click on an alert & it would take me right to it. If it was a hurricane or something of that nature, I could tell the direction it was heading based on the symbol just by looking at it on the map, & by tapping on it I could get more information & see an outline of the possible track it would take. With the update before this last one it wasn’t as user friendly in telling the tracks. Now I can’t tell at all. Also, when I tap on a hazard alert it no longer takes me directly to it like it used to. When you say there’s a winter storm in the Midwest, for instance, you want to know where in the Midwest if you’re traveling or have family there. I hope they will make it more user friendly again instead of just trying to make it look fancy.
Fascinating look at Global weather and disasters!
This amazing app provides timely information concerning natural and human disasters worldwide or just 25 miles away from your current location! I track surface water temperatures in all oceans, seas, and lakes/inland seas! Which is quite alarming because the heat has risen far faster than I thought possible! I LOVE THIS APP!
Can your service provide temperatures of ocean depths at 700 feet and/or lower? Methane gas released from thawing Arctic, Antarctica, and the other five oceans. It may help stop oil drilling in those extremely fragile and hazardous areas! We might be able to halt all deep drilling in thawing ocean floors!
Fair to partly cloudy
This app leaves out or they don't know of other reported events that happens as the earthquake in Northwest Tennessee on Feb. 2017 never showed up on this app ! There need to be a archives search on this app for back information, if you want to track back history. Nothing reported on nuclear waste of Japan Monitoring or other sites. No links to lake or river pollution levels that each U.S. state documents and reports. I probably want keep this app much longer ! If you get this app opp out of notices an alert ! You'll get pop ups all the time ! You can turn off in the app also !
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
