Sure did help my Mac
I was faced with a dauting task of emptying my trash which had not been emptied since 2008. My system has a 500 GB hard drive and an attached 1 TB external drive; so, I did not even give it thought about emptying the trash. Today, there was a program that I had to clear out of the trash but needed to be permanently deleted. The trashcan does not offer individual file deletion. When I started to delete all the trash, it would have taken probably about a week, because of how slow it was deleting the thousands of files. I used another fantastic memory program and saw Disk Doctor displayed in the apple store. In the description, it sound like the trash could be emptied much quicker; I decided to give it a try and voila, it worked in about 15 minutes to delete years worth of files that the Mac stock trash app was taking forever to do. It is worth getting. I would like to be able to have a choice of selecting files to be deleted if I do not want to delete all of them until I’m ready? Also, I really like how the stats show how much files can be deleted and how much free space will be gained. At any rate, I really like this program!!!
The Doctor Is In!!!
Disk Doctor is a good name for this app because it’s as if one clicks a icon to ask to see the doctor, and suddenly it appears to tell you exactly what the problem is and what it needs to do to remedy it. It is essentially just an app that cleans up space and deletes unnesscary files, which we could all do ourselves if we went to the right folders and did it manually — but who has time for that? Disk Doctor just knows where to look after you tell it the name of your home folder on the root drive, and it gives you the option of saving data that you don’t want deleted. It also suggests that you back-up using time machine before you use it, which isn’t a bad idea if you are doing a deep scan. I took my chances this last time and didn’t backup because I had done so fairly recently. No problem! While the program does request a “Like” on FaceBook or a favorable Tweet on Twitter, I didn’t find it all that difficult to "just say no.” And I actually appreciate an app that makes it easy for me to rate it and write a review. Disk Doctor was quite worthy of the few moments of my time that it took for me to give it five stars and to type this review.
It makes me happy to have a cleaner, and thus a more efficient machine, and therefore I have no problems giving it a 5-star rating for:
1) Ease of use, 2) Efficiency, 3) Doing what it claims it will do, 4) Cost.
Get it, and use it routinely to keep your Mac running more smoothly. You won’t likely regret it.
AVG Cleaner does the EXACT same thing and more—and it’s free.
I’m very suspicious of how this lame app consistently stays on the top of the App Store. It’s largely bare-bones and is worthy of 3 stars tops. It does nothing many other apps, including the absolutely free AVG Cleaner, can do. Worse, Disk Doctor dumps that annoying splash screen at the end of a clean-up offering to “Share” what you’ve done. Really? I want to share that I’ve “cleaned” my hard drive? And Tweet, too?! Perhaps there should be a Share button on a box of Kleenex. Blowing my nose, after all, is every bit as exciting to the masses as Disk Doctor.
People, please listen to me before you drop one cent on this app. The *FREE* AVG Cleaner does the EXACT same thing as Disk Doctor and even adds a ‘Duplicate finder’ feature to the mix. Save your money and go that route instead. If consumers actually stopped reading the outrageous hype about Disk Doctor, it would fall off the App Store top list for good.
Apple: Please look into the ratings of this app. Something is very fishy about its standing atop the App Store.
