New version

I'm liking the new interface and controls...but having to pay something like $14 to get all the new overlays, textures, and bird packs? A bit much in my book....

Thanks for the update

hoping to see more updates on the way.

Not there yet

Even though this app finally got updated (previous update was in August, 2014) there are certain issues that are persistently annoying. It doesn't work on landscape mode on both iPad Pro and iPhone 7. Images can only be worked on when set on portrait mode. When a photo gets rendered in landscape mode, this app turns an image sideways. It then saves it sideways as well. It's a shame because DistressedFX is particularly useful for still life and landscape photography. This lack of landscape mode becomes even more apparent on an iPad, thus not fully supporting iPad users. Developers removed some previous textures and filters. There used to be 22 filters and 20 textures (overlays), but now there're 19 filters and 18 textures. Most notably Custom overlay is now removed which was very useful for double exposure effect. More birds (uncaged birds) are added to the original birds pack. I was able to download them for free by tapping 'restore'. This was very helpful on the part of developers. The down side is you're able to use one bird effect at the time. If you want to add more, the app replaces an original bird effect with a new one. So in order to add more bird effects, one needs to save a photo to Camera Roll first and then import it to DistressedFX. This awkwardness happens only with bird overlays. Other filters and textures can be overlaid successfully. DistressedFX is still a very beautiful app. It can tastefully turn a lifeless photo into something very special. It has controls for each effect so your photo isn't overpowered by something you don't really want. Birds/Silhouettes can now be moved and resized-another helpful change. Overall I'm pleased with the app's performance and thank developers, who haven't abandon such a nice app after all these years. I just wish they would make it an iPad friendly by adding landscape mode and have bird overlays less complicated.
