Nice atmosphere, tedious gameplay

george billions

The atmospheric graphics and sound design are easily the best things about this game. The gameplay is tedious and unrewarding. I slogged through the first couple levels hoping to find some big, fun, secrets that would make the effort worth it. Each level has identical gameplay: try to avoid rocks and crash your sub a bunch of times until you’ve amassed enough gold to buy enough upgrades to reach the bottom, at which point you lose all your upgrades so you have to repeat the process in the next level. This might be enough for some people, but I found the lack of payoff or advancement really disappointing. It almost seems like a half-finished game; the atmosphere and basic mechanics are solid, but you’ve experienced everything Dive Inside has to offer by the end of the first level. It ain’t much.

Dead End

This game is very unbalanced and frustrating to play. It’s very difficult to get through the first level (I have not done it yet), it’s unclear what I am trying to random secrets that have no clear meaning or cohesive story to them, collect gold to spend on improving the dive tank. After a while, the only gold I can see that is left to retrieve lies under deep ledges where I cannot access them without dying. This makes the game a frustration. I don’t play games to be frustrated. Beautiful graphics but really...don’t bother.

UPDATE: Tried it with the increased O2 capacity and it’s still frustrating to play. Perhaps if a single hit did not crash the diving tank, and there was a way to bolster the tank’s durability, I’d give it a third chance. Dive Inside still only earns 2-stars from me.

Developer Response

Hi! Update the game! Added extra o2 capacity!

Excellent challenging sub game.

Excellent submarine game all around, graphics, music, gameplay all great. Reading some other reviews people complain it is too difficult, I disagree... it’s is challenging sure, but I was able to easily get to episode 4, now then I admit it has become quite hard since, but not so hard that I don’t want to play the game. If u r looking for a leisurely stroll underwater sub game then it’s not for u. However if u r looking for a sub game where u must be strategic, and collect gold for upgrades to continue diving deeper and farther towards ur goal then Dive Inside is the one for u!
