Very helpful for distributing apps on my website
Saves me time and appears to be the only good free DMG creation utility on the app store right now.
I almost trashed it because I didn't realize that after pressing "Build" I had to then press "Finalize". If you don't press Finalize it appears to make a non-pretty DMG file.
It seems easy to use and customizable but after spending a couple hours getting everything perfect including creation of a custom background…it didn’t work. It’ll create a .dmg, but it doesn’t look anything better than what you get using Disk Utility. The background image doesn’t appear and neither do most of the custom settings. I’m running OS X 10.9, maybe it’s not compatible? Unless the developer releases an update or you’re using an older OS…look elsewhere.
Functional but still not needs a lot work here!!!
It is functional and does work basically to distribute files as a .DMG, however in the current version it is not holding the template structure during the builds and finalization process. Needs more work!. For example when you first open the app and select the wallpaper from the wallpaper templates everything appears to be okay during the layout process, as well as the placement of the file in the center and the text, however after pressing the build button and the build is complete the click finalize process, at the end of this process your window opens from your.DMG file and there’s nothing there but the file itself no background wallpaper as selected at the beginning of the process, no text at all as selected at the beginning of the process and the file is not centered on the grid even using the feature snap to grid. All you are left with is the standard looking PNG file in your documents folder and when double clicked a plain white window opens up with the application and or file in it and that’s it, no wallpaper, no centralization of file in the middle, no text, and before going to the build process it will not allow you to pick or select a file icon this is grayed out altogether.
So if you’re looking for a freebie, just basic that the EMG converter to send your applications and or files to someone this will be okay, however, with this particular app I would watch the file size it tends to create large files much larger than necessary. I did a Test with a 49 kB PDF document, just as a test, after the build in finalization process the.DMG file size was 1.5 MB.
Still needs work, but it is a freebie for now, for the time being I’m just going to delete it from my applications altogether until I can find something better, good luck everyone. :-)
