Dollarbird offers auto-renewable in-app purchases to access Pro features that allow you to collaborate with your family or team. The service costs $4.99/month or $39.99/year (that’s 4 free months). Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. If auto-renewal is not turned off, your iTunes account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. The renewal cost will be the same as the currently active subscription cost. Subscriptions may be managed by you and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your iTunes & App Store Settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription.

Freezes and crashes constantly
I am pretty disappointed by the update to Dollarbird 2, mostly for two reasons: 1) the new interface feels like it had the purpose to look good with no real purpose. Charges are harder to find and the monthly overview looks jammed. 2) A bigger letdown however is how data is handled on Dollarbird 2. Now it takes a long time after launching the app until all data has been loaded (it appears the app tries to load the most recent state from the server every time you open the app). This makes the simple process to open Dollardbird and adding charge very slow and cumbersome. Additionally the app freezes (probably also due to server communication issues) constantly. All in all the previous Dollarbird was much simpler and faster to use and this version feels heavy and slow. I am close to giving up on Dollarbird.
Update after developer’s response:
The app works worse than initially reported by me. It consistently freezes (approx. 9 out of the 10 times I open the app and try to add a charge it freezes). It crashes often as well. And approx once a day it logs you out so you will have to log in again. The app needs serious fixing.

A few details about your device and account would come in handy in identifying the root cause of this issue. Screenshots are also welcome.
In regards to your other remarks: Dollarbird is cloud-based, thus the little delay. Our most recent update aims to speed up this process by loading your details from the local database first. With respect to changes being hard to find: have you tried the search feature on the web app? On mobile, if you're looking for an entry from a certain category, simply go to dashboard, expand the category of your choice and see the list of transactions tagged with the same label. Selecting one will display all the entries and the dates on which you added them. Hope this helps. Old version was better
I've used this app religiously for almost 2 years and would even pay for an upgrade with more features but this update is B-A-D! The app constantly crashes! About 40% of the time I try to use it, it will not register the date I click on. It flips to a month or 2 forward. This is soooooo frustrating. The calendar is much more difficult to navigate and click on different dates. Swiping transactions to reconcile them is much more difficult. In the older version it was much smoother. Also you can't compare balances from one month to the next. In the old version if you were looking at the recap for your monthly expenses you could easily swipe from month to month. Why put out an update with LESS features?? Total bummer. I was so pumped to see there was an update but I am now so disappointed that I have spent this much time inputting my data and using it to track my expenses. It now has no benefit for me :-(

Hi Addie, So sad to hear that the new version of Dollarbird is such a disappointment for you. However, we value your opinion, and hope I can address your concerns in such a way that you might change your mind and maybe give Dollarbird 3 another shot. We are aware of the fact that since the new version is cloud-based, the internet has its say mostly, thus whenever you have a weak cell phone signal, the app doesn't work properly. However, if this is not the case, and your smartphone reception is good, but you still experience glitches, it would be a tremendous help for us to know when these crashes happen more precisely/ the actions you perform before these occur, and the type of device as well as OS version. Confirming transactions actually works the same as it did in Classic, you simply need to swipe them from left to right. However, what changed here is that for instance marking a future bill as paid no longer moves the transaction to the current date, therefore the balance is no longer updated accordingly. Now you can confirm a transaction in the future, and it will stay on that day. What you can do is edit the planned transaction and change its date after/before confirming it. I realize it's an extra step, but this is a trade-off for the added flexibility of planning your future transactions. We know there are a few Classic feature that didn't make it in the new version, however this is just the beginning for Dollarbird 3, we're improving it on the go. Actually, we've just rolled out a neat update on the web app related to the reporting side that might be a good solution for recapping you monthly spendings. Looking forward to your email!
Buggy, not as clean
The old dollarbird was so clean and did exactly what I needed. That app seriously turned my personal finances around.
This new version had a lot of great things, but it's just so buggy. It freezes and shuts down all the time, you essentially can't use it when you don't have cell service/wifi, when you flip through different months on the calendar it's a 50/50 on whether the next month will actually load, the transfer feature between different account calendars just doesn't work (I try to use it to denote when I'm putting money in my savings), and switching between different calendars also takes two or three tries before it actually loads. I could keep going...
Dollarbird classic was absolutely crucial in the last year for me, and it's disappointing to have to switch to this new version and then not have a product that can handle the type of use its users have come to depend on.

We're constantly working on ironing out any known issues and we'll be rolling out updates with fixes in the near future. Offline support/ caching being next on our list. caching in the future though. So, you'll soon be able to add transactions and view your data in read-only mode, even without an internet connection. May I ask if you remember what particular action/s you were performing when the app froze? Just so we can check if it's a known issue, or you've stumbled upon something new. All in all, this is just the beginning for the new Dollarbird, we have a whole list of features and improvements in the pipeline for the upcoming period. On web we've just recently rolled out an update with some neat charts you've might been accustomed to use in crunching those numbers in Classic.
