Decent for pocket change
Dunno where those 15,000 5 star reviews came from. We work very hard, and customers are not prompted to click between 1-5 stars; but for every order we have to finish a questionnaire about every single order or else we cannot move on. Then, when 1 customer has a complaint we risk getting deactivated. Anyone that works consistently for Doordash knows it’s rare to make even $9 an order in most areas. Not to mention how long it takes to receive orders. After working with them for several months, it takes me 45 minutes to receive a single $7 order. Grocery orders take about an hour, and you can be paid as little as $6 for them. Not to mention how slow the orders come in when there is a new report on the news about a bad Driver. This doesn’t pair well with the fact that they’re constantly hiring new drivers. It’s almost impossible to get on the schedule. Once, they didn’t even acknowledge that I was online. I was sent a text message saying that my dash would be cancelled if I didn’t go online, and I didn’t receive a single order. When the amount of orders are decent, it’s normal to make about $10-13 an hour; however, don’t expect it to be consistent. This usually happens during rush hour and only lasts about 4 hours while peak pay is at $3 (which is rare). Not to mention how difficult it is to keep track of gas expenses. I’m really afraid for when I have to pay my taxes. At this point, I don’t even know if it’s worth it.
First off those pics on the download screen are an overstatement, I’ve never gotten $12 for an order that was that close maybe if you’re lucky they’ll give you almost $10 to deliver a town away (making you leave your starting point and not paying you to get back while you lose out on more orders) and it’s never that busy. I started dashing over a year ago and they keep hiring more and more people so it’s flooded. They should do what grub hub does and stop hiring ppl in flooded areas, it makes it almost impossible to get an order now. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. If you hate easy access to support and want to wait 30min to talk to someone thru the app (and only if you’re actively on an order otherwise good luck with the FAQs) and don’t mind getting screwed over with pay so it barely evens out to the gas you use getting less than $7hr including gas then this app is for you! It’s great to make money on your free time but not something you can do as a 9-5 job unless you have literally no responsibilities. There’s no phone number to call and they actually block your # after you enter it in the app so they can text you but if you try to call support the lines dead for us dashers unless we use someone else’s phone. Really greedy company and definitely overstates how much you can earn while saturating the app with more and more dashers while struggling to give them all orders thus why they’re partnering with more stores giving free delivery specials and promos
Great idea, not used the most.
The app is great, never had an issue with customer service. But that could always be that I can never schedule a drive! My town is always unavailable, but they suggest other areas I could drive to... an 1hr and 30 mins away! Right I’m going to take a 3 hr round trip to make 6.00 on a delivery. That’s not right. Eventually I imagine that door dash will convert to a “click to start driving” regardless of time. The fact you have to budget your time and then to not see anything open to pick (times to drive) not just for one day but all 7? What’s the point? Sadly this makes me go to other services (Uber, grub hub) they allow you to start whenever, wherever. Like I said. Great great service. But very limited when you can actually work for them. Shouldn’t be like that. You have drivers ready to go but are barred because there’s no time slots open? I don’t know. That’s clearly a flaw. And they can’t stop sending me emails apologizing about this. But at the same time nothing changes. So a lot of big talk no action happening here.
Fix the time scheduling issues. Or at least let us work for you. Shouldn’t be that hard to give you my time to make us both money.
For now if you need any food delivery go to grub hub or Uber eats. You won’t have to wait 50-60 mins for a delivery because they let the drivers drive whenever.
