The BEST podcast app
I really love Downcast. It's the best and most user friendly podcast app out there (and I've tried them all) PERIOD, with many great features and user settings which can be tweaked in various ways. I've been using it for years. And the app dev updates it all the time, helping to improve it, getting rid of any bugs, etc. And he never charges for this or scams the customers (as some less scrupulous app devs sometimes do) for instance by creating a whole new app (but the same as the older paid app with only with a few "new" features), and asking for his old customers to pay for it, etc.
I do have one suggestion for the app dev (I'll also email him):
Can you please ad an actual web browser inside of the app where we can "bookmark" websites? (as iCacher has had for a while - a decent app but not on the same level as Downcast). Because there are some websites that don't have a podcast feed, and it's a little cumbersome to always have to copy the .mp3 audio file in a separate browser app (i.e. Safari, iCab) and use the Tools area of Downcast to then import these audio files to have it downloaded. It would just be a lot easier to be able to have the bookmark/web browser right inside of the Downcast app, and would save many steps. This is the only feature that Downcast does not have that some of the competition may have.

Update: thanks for keeping the app updated and continuing to improve it! Current update broke the function where downcast resumes play after google maps says directions. Please fix :)
Just downloaded this app so I can't weigh in on recent updates, but wow, I just came from apples standard app and this is a total breath of fresh air--not just from an aesthetics point of view but the sheer options and customizability that this app offers is incredible! Only thing that I'd like to see is if we have the option to skip seconds instead of fast forward enabled, it shows a different icon for it in the lock screen/control center, but that's nitpicking--5 stars and keep up the great work!
Recent UI has problems
Overall Downcast is a good app to manage podcast downloads and playback. I've been using it for years. About a few months ago an update to the User Interface was published. One really annoying change: buttons for play pause seem less responsive; as touch screen hasn't changed the reason for this annoyance must be that the active mapped region is much smaller than the button icon. And second related annoyance: the minus 30" button at top is too close to the < button top left and frequently backs out of the podcast. Please fix the buttons.
