Do you write papers, books, articles, briefs, resumes, grants, translations, syllabi, or abstracts? Do you spend more than one sitting working on the same document? If so, then Draft Control is for you!
Draft Control works alongside your word processor to automatically store versions of your document and keep track of changes that you’ve made from one version to the next. It supports your writing as you move forward from draft to draft by automatically archiving each change and every version.
WHAT DRAFT CONTROL DOES
• Saves a version of your document each time you save it in your word processor
• Creates a timeline of backups that can be easily restored without replacing your current version
• Tracks any changes made to your document from one version to the next
• Displays the differences between any two versions
HOW DRAFT CONTROL WORKS
Draft Control fits into your writing workflow without interfering with your word processor. Draft Control runs in the background and automatically saves versions of your document. This way, Draft Control keeps track of versions and changes without cluttering up your document with Track Changes, notes, or edits. You will feel free to delete any chunk of text because Draft Control stores all versions, and makes it easy to search for previously deleted text.
Stop saving duplicates of your documents! In Draft Control you can add a label to any version, allowing you to differentiate between versions.
MORE TOOLS TO HELP YOU
Worried about keeping an offsite backup? Draft Control can easily and securely back up all versions of your document to iCloud.
Don't remember which version has the text you need? You can search through all versions for changed text. Once you find the version you're looking for, you can easily restore the desired text.
Want to see a list of changes between versions? You can compare any two versions to see what changed, and produce a PDF of the displayed changes to print or send to a colleague.
A collaborator made edits without using Track Changes? You can insert their version into your document's timeline to see exactly what was changed.

I started using Draft Control when I was writing my dissertation. It has saved me so much time and frustration, I can’t believe I ever thought my system was “fine” before! It solved so many of the issues that had always frustrated me. I used to start each day by saving a new version of my document under that day’s date, but Draft Control does that automatically for me. I used to write prodigious notes in a separate document to keep track of what I changed when, but Draft Control does that automatically too. I used to spend hours going back through my backup drives searching for an old version in which I had deleted some text that I now wanted back, but with Draft Control I can just do an easy keyword search and find the text within seconds. The new version has a really great new feature so you can track an entire folder of documents, instead of having to drag each document into the app individually. I find this very useful.
I now use Draft Control for everything, not just my dissertation. I use it for my CV, teaching syllabi, conference abstracts, grant proposals, job applications… basically anything I write that would ever revise. I highly recommend this app to anyone who writes anything. Give it a try! It might just save you so much time and frustration that you can’t even believe it’s real!
I downloaded Draft Control a year ago and use it primarily for business contracts, internal strategy documents, and papers. It's a fantastic addition for me - really easy to use, and a definite improvement over trying to store countless different versions. Also, it works great with Microsoft Word and has better versio tracking/comparison than google docs in my opinion. Kudos draft control team!
great for resumes
I recently started using this app for tracking different resumes and cover letters to different companies. It organizes these very well and quickly shows me what has been changed between versions, making it much easer to prevent making mistakes! Also, it’s very easy to export a previous version to create a new tailored resume using a previous one as a base.
