Dragon Dictation is an easy-to-use voice recognition application powered by Dragon® NaturallySpeaking® that allows you to easily speak and instantly see your text or email messages. In fact, it’s up to five (5) times faster than typing on the keyboard.
With Dragon Dictation you can also dictate status updates directly to your Social Networking applications (Facebook and Twitter) or send notes and reminders to yourself….all using your voice. So when you’re on-the-go, stop typing and start speaking – from short text messages to longer email messages, and anything in between.
Dragon Dictation supports a multitude of global languages. For a full list of currently supported languages visit www.dragonmobileapps.com.
David Pogue - The New York Times : “I’m finding Dragon to be a much faster, more efficient way to spit out e-mail messages, notes, text messages and Twitter updates. It’s really, really cool.”
Mel Martin - TUAW.com: “Put this into the ‘I didn’t think they could ever get this to work on an iPhone’ category. I’m talking about Dragon Dictation from Nuance, the developers of the very popular Dragon Naturally Speaking for the PC.”
Arik Hesseldahl – BusinessWeek: “For the last few days I’ve been trying two Nuance iPhone apps, Dragon Dictation and Dragon Search on my iPhone. And while they’re not the first voice search or dictation apps for the iPhone, I certainly like the results I’ve been getting.”
Miker55 – “It’s understood everything I’ve said. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been driving and wanted to text someone but couldn’t. This app is great!!!”
Twebs – “For me Dragon dictation is a game changing application. The accuracy is outstanding and it’s very easy to use. I immediately notified everyone I know with an iPhone to pick up this application while it’s still free.”
Redman042 – “I can’t believe my iPhone can do this. Accuracy is amazingly good and transcription is very fast. You can’t even tell that transcription is being done online. I’m very very impressed.”

What's New in Version 2.0.28
Definitely Needs Work
When this app works, it is truly indispensable. It does have trouble identifying some words at times, but I find that it does pick up more and more over time as you use it. However, because you can only choose one primary language, the app cannot process more than one language at once, and, this can be a problem if you're using more than one language in your work/study.
My main complaint is the reliability of this app. The app crashes on a regular basis, it loses contact with the system through which it processes your dictation, and, lately, the app stopped opening on my iPad, and all of my most recent work was lost. I have had to delete and reinstall this app on my iPad, to date, two times, and I've only been using it for approximately three weeks. Unfortunately, some of these issues are recent ones, and, thus, the company should seriously consider a substantial app update in the very near future.
Although I can honestly say that when it does work, this app is a great help to those of us who have hand/wrist issues where extensive typing is required, I cannot recommend the current version--best to find something else for now and/or wait for the app to be updated so some of these issues are (hopefully) addressed.
I am writing this review on that dictate program just in order to show its actual level of accuracy. It is not always right however you can type(tap on) what I'm ( whatever) writing (is) off and it gives a choice that's very close sounding. I think this program is pretty great it does become more accurate the more you use it. I love this program with the headset and all the whole thing for school I was wary of it here. I didn't( had not didn't) trouble with texting on the touchscreen ending up with AutoCorrect choosing crazy words or typing really confusing and misleading text and so I Jossies( chose to use) internal system or Siri and that ended up making it worse and when I was driving and things like that I could(couldn't) look and review it and ended up sending even more wild or offbeat messages. That's why overall I really like this program and even if I'm speaking low or fast or mumbling it is( still does) a really good job of detecting things and you(even) without a headset. For a free simple dictation system worry free as well I would give this program the best the gold standard the top rating.
Wasted hours of my precious time
I don't think I've ever written a bad review for an app. Unfortunately, the creators of this app make it easy for you to lose all the material you've painstakingly dictated by giving you a certain option to save that doesn't work at all. After spending hours dictating my hand written poetry so that I could save it in a digital format, I chose the option the app offers to save a draft of an email of the dictated text for myself. Was a draft saved to the stock email app on my iPhone?...nope, not a single word of it. I had spent hours dictating my poetry and editing portions of it on the fly, only to have my efforts completely foiled due to some brain fart the makers of this app must have experienced when they were programming that vital little function in the app that saves your hard work, so you don't have to start again from square one. It recognizes dictation well enough, but that doesn't help when you're frantically searching for the "draft" of your work that the app has offered to save for you, but it's nowhere to be found. I'm so mad I could spit.
