Good game but has declined over time

I love this game, I'm a level 70 player, and have had the app almost since it came out. I love the challenge of acquiring the dragons and it gives me something mindless to do when I need some downtime. Over time it has become more and more difficult to get dragons though. In the beginning, when 2 same dragons were bred, I would get another one just like them without any difficulty. Also, it used to be pretty difficult to get the epic dragons, but now it seems like in every breeding situation, even with 2 same dragons, the epic dragons I don't need are the defaults so I have to wait 24-48 hours to breed my dragons again for what I was trying to acquire. I'm not loving it as much as I once did. The other difficulty is the limited amount of time the new dragons are available, making it nearly impossible to acquire them without spending a pretty penny. I'm fine spending a dollar here and there, but have recently disabled my in-app purchases because I was wasting my money attempting the impossible. It can be very frustrating playing this game, and while Backflip Studios is very creative and talented, they are also lacking the balance that originally existed in the game. Simple is good, but things have gotten too complicated for my liking.

Great game; lots of fun for all ages -- but needs serious fixes for iPad users

My 88 year-old mom plays this game. My 9 year-old great niece plays. Our whole family (88 years, 69, 67, 48, 38, 15, 13 and 9 years old) plays every day. We love it and enjoy discussing it as a family. However, there has been an ongoing problem with the game on our iPads which has gotten worse over time and is now so bad that we cannot play the game on our iPads at all. While in the game, we continue to get "kicked out". It is now so bad that we can't even get the game to open! We have put in numerous help tickets during the past year and have done everything the Dragonvale team has suggested to correct the problem numerous times. But it has not fixed the problem. My sweet mom cannot play on an iPhone -- she can't see that small. This game is one of the things she looks forward playing every day and now she can't. My suggestion to Dragonvale (which has made thousands of dollars from our family), is to hire a tech team to fix the problem while keeping the creative team who does such a great job on designing cute dragons and awesome parks/animation.

Galaxy dragons

I love this game and all its features, but there is one thing that bothers me: galaxy dragons. The dragons themselves are cool and present another fun challenge, but it annoys me that you can only get them through cooperative breeding in a game that was previously more of an independent one. I don't have any friends who play Dragonvale (and I would rather not need to rely on other people to advance my game, anyway), so this makes it impossible for me to get any more galaxy dragons. The game tries to help out players like me by allowing "The Great Nogard" to have a level four galaxy dragon to breed with, but this was only good for a few breeds until it was switched to a level four fire. So basically, I'm stuck. I'm not saying the cooperative breeding feature should be removed, but I think there should be another way to get galaxy dragons (besides spending a ridiculous number of gems) for people who either don't have any Dragonvale friends or want to play the game independently.
