Your smartphone, along with a Bluetooth beacon you’ll receive in the mail, will collect basic information about your driving characteristics. Next, the app will use this information to calculate your potential discount on auto insurance.
• View your current and trending discounts based on specific driving characteristics
• Calculate your potential discount by adjusting a variety of driving characteristics
• See how your driving stacks up against others
• Learn how your driving habits, such as braking, mileage, speed and acceleration, affect your discount
• Read tips to improve your grades on key driving characteristics

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Great App - Make sure you set to upload over wifi
A lot of the negative reviews are due to battery drainage. It's important that you have the app set up to upload data over wifi. This will help with your battery drainage. I've been able to save $198 every 6 months with the drive safe and save program! If you want more control over your insurance rates, then this is the perfect program for you.
I am saving nearly $300 per year with this. If the app is set up to limit transmitting data via wifi, you should have absolutely no problems with your phone battery. Set up and pairing of the device is very easy. If done correctly, the device works perfectly. You won't be able to see grades right away. There needs to be enough data collected to supply the grades.
STILL Eating my battery
New update today (3/1) and still accessing my location all the time whether I'm near the Bluetooth module or not! Never should have gotten past QA!
Let me be clear the battery drain is NOT due to Bluetooth being enabled (mine has always been on 24/7). The battery drain is due to GPS tracking running 24/7 regardless of proximity to your vehicle.
This also has nothing to do with allowing the app to connect over the air or wifi. I've had it setup to use wifi since day one. This is a GPS always on issue plain and simple.
This app is constantly running my battery down!!! Watching it tick down because it's monitoring my location even though I'm nowhere near my car or the Bluetooth unit! State Farm promises tracking trip information when I am in my vehicle and moving but this app is monitoring the location of my phone every minute of every day instead. None of your business!!!
