Drive Smarter with State Farm® Driver Feedback™.
Driver Feedback is a free app that helps you self-assess your driving behaviors.
State Farm created Driver Feedback for drivers of all ages – from new drivers just starting out to seasoned professionals. Anyone can use this free app to find ways to improve their skills behind the wheel. No plug-in needed! Just lay your mobile device on a flat service or place it in a cup holder, hit record and start driving.
The app uses you phone’s accelerometer to measure and score three aspects of your driving behaviors: Accelerating, Braking and Cornering. Tips are offered to help you improve in these areas. The better you are at driving, the more you may be able to save on the wear and tear to your tires and vehicle.
State Farm does not collect your driving information, so the data recorded by the app will not affect your insurance rates. You don’t even need to be a State Farm customer to use Driver Feedback!

· Supports multiple users – fun for comparing your driving skills with your spouse or sibling.
· Send trip results via email or SMS – great for parents of new drivers.
· Compare two trips – see if your scores are improving.
· View your trip in map view - see alerts for hard braking, sharp accelerating and harsh cornering.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

We’ve enhanced the experience by making a few app improvements.
Some reality-based metrics with a little bogus
If someone wanted to compare two identical devices in the same position in your vehicle, one with this app and one recording all of the sensor data, you would find one of two things: 1. That the device has some bogus sensor data, or 2. (More likely), that this app has a lot of bogus logic.
What I have observed, if you drive perfect, is that you will see an equal number in all three categories below 100%, usually 90-93%. If you have absolutely any minor spike in one category, the other two categories will show 100%. And if the device is not level, like in a cup holder, automatically one category will easily be 100% and the others bogus-fied accordingly. I would be surprised if fed the same data points multiple times, that the app does not come up with different results for each run.
While the idea is nice, I have almost no confidence in the scores or feedback. Also, if I didn't get a 100% in cornering one time and was going 10mph, I would probably be endangering others by going slower. I imagine that should you get 100% in all categories, either your device is not very sensitive to motion and gps signals or you were a legitimate danger to other drivers. The irony of that gets this app at least three stars.
