Minute is inspired by works and ideas of composer John Cage, specifically his pieces "Indeterminacy" and "Essay."

Minute is a simple experimental music app that stretches recorded sound. Whatever is recorded is analyzed and the "silent" parts of the sound are stretched until the sound is one minute long. You can adjust that length for different effects.

Your device MUST support recording to use this app.

Minute will play in the background.

Love it

Mr. Lowengard does a fantastic job with all his apps. I am sorry to have griped. It is not his fault. I am under tremendous pressure at work and home and I left a frustrated review. I love using Droneo, Tondo, and others. To see a renaissance man in action, look up Mr. L's personal page.

The (i) button has the instructions you are looking for, which are also in the Minute support website. Basically, you hold down the central red button and it records whatever sound is around, preferably speech, which it then segments and plays back, stretching either the "silences" or the "speech" sections of the recording.
Once it starts, it keeps going, until you kill it or capture something else. It's not a recording app - there are thousands of those - and it's role is not to be a recording app, but to change the spacing of sound events.
It doesn't participate in the iOs music ecosystem, and some time, I might rewrite this as an AU v3, but it's not a high priority.

Lot possibilities here

Interesting manipulator for experimenting with sound whether musical or just noise but then Cage found music in all. So opens the possibilities with this tool. A stop button might have been handy but for free no right to suggest. Fun app.

The lack of a stop button is a kind of a philosophical thing - sound doesn't stop, why should Minute? Similarly, it saves nothing, so what you hear, you hear!

You can, though, turn the volume all the way down, record some silence, or kill the app!

Simply, one of the coolest apps out there.

I came across Minute while searching for a simple audio stretching solution and was very impressed with its capabilities and vision. It's a crime that no one has rated it until now!
