Dreams can come true
Years ago (like 20) I worked at a car dealership (customer service and answering phones) as my high school job. So I know all the stuff, good and bad. And I don’t have anything to say, other than I just CANNOT imagine spending hours of my life at a dealership leasing a car. Won’t ever happen. In the past (after working at the dealership) when I encountered the necessary evil of a car purchase/lease I would only deal with internet salespeople/email negotiation and just show up to sign papers and drive away the car. And that was still more than enough. So to my delight and surprise and forever gratitude, after more than 8 years of Manhattan life with no car, when we were ready to get back in the game I used the app for a car lease and it was beyond great. Can’t say enough good things. If you are price sensitive to the last $10 a month or have bad credit or need to order a special vehicle or have another special situation, this probably isn’t for you. But if you are like me and know what car you want, have good credit and just want a no-hassle expedience, this is the best thing that ever happened to car leasing. Seriously amazing.
Pretty good, but room for improvement
The app takes care of the bare necessities of the service, but there are several areas for improvement. The first is that the app is often quite delayed in the status that it shares on where the driver is with your car. It also routinely does not allow you to select the valet now or upon arrival options, forcing you to schedule for a time that can 2+ hours away and needing to find alternative parking during that time period. Lastly, while the airport service that dropcar offers is amazing, the option should be built straight into the app to avoid having issues around the valet now option not being available.
We were luxe users and had to switch over to dropcar when luxe was no longer available. Significantly worse service. App is awful, doesn't show correct location of your vehicle or correct eta of driver. the pick up and drop offs have been delayed 100% of the time. Completely ineffective customer service and no attempt to repair customer relationships. Not only do drivers show up late, customer service response is always “we’re sorry we don’t know what to tell you”. I use this service because it is significantly less expensive than a garage (only redeeming quality). If there was anything else close price wise I would stop using this service immediately.
When this review was originally posted we were in the middle of onboarding all the customers left stranded after Luxe’s closure, yourself included. As a result, our infrastructure needed to catch up to meet the high level of demand. Since then we have increased our staff to efficiently handle the high level of demand for the DropCar platform, revamped our customer service and training & are striving to push robust new features and improvements to our app. All of which have given us the ability to smoothly handle our current client base and scale for the future. If you are still a customer we would love to hear from you about your experience since then. If you are no longer a customer we would love the opportunity to show you how much we have improved.
